    "Barrel aged and wood finished"

    Sounds like Amburana wood.

Amburana could account for the cinnamon flavor as well.

No mention of amburana, but that certainly could be it. It's weird because there is very little information on the beer and what they did with it, so it's all conjecture on my part.

Yeah it’s delicious. I’m going to try to hunt down another to hold onto for 4-5 years. For science.

Got a box of a dozen barleywines from Jackie O's today, zero chance I wasn't going open tonight. The only new to me one in the bunch, Prodigality. Aged 2 years in bourbon barrels, brewed only with Maris Otter.

Glad I got multiples, this is a gem. So many layers here that work together harmoniously. Honey roasted nuts, leather, butterscotch, and a lot of boozy oak. There are also hints of apples and prunes plus more I don't have the vocabulary for. Maybe my favorite from Jackie O's and that's high praise.

As it warms a lot of aspirin and bitter grapefruit rind emerges. Enjoy!:stuck_out_tongue:

    Can't wait to experience that!

I sure hope it's nothing like Bigfoot.

If I have a choice, I prefer barrel aged Barleywine.

I was just looking back at my FOBAB checks and remembered enjoying this. Someone in the FOBAB thread mentioned the 608 Brewing DB Barleywine (Shores of Hell) so I tasted it pretty early. It was boozy at 17.6% but I really enjoyed it as well. Another barleywine that was delicious was Ever Grain - The gathering storm. These were lesser known BWs at FOBAB I enjoyed most including the beer you reviewed.

Gratitude from East End. American barleywine, compliments of a @adrock314 in a recent trade! So glad I got to try this, and I'm really excited to try the barrel-aged versions!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a murky orange with a thin layer of head. Nose is wonderful - toffee candy all the way. Werther's. Raisins, plums, a touch of minty pine, maple, and a slight citrus peel note.

The taste is awesome. A perfect balance of sweetness and slight bitterness from the hops. Wow. Toffee, pine, citrus peel, raisins, figs, candy, big malty note, bread, and alcohol heat. Really well done.

The mouthfeel is dry, medium bodied, and nicely warming. Some alcohol bite is there. The aftertaste is primarily citrus peel bitterness. Overall, a wonderful example of an American Barleywine. I can't wait to see how these age for a little while.
