BBA Old Rasputin and Coffee from Hondruas aka the Motherland

 

Enjoying a Sierra Nevada 2022 Society release #6, a Tripel aged in Gin Barrels. Base beer is legit with lovely light fruit esters coming thru nicely. The barrels lend a nice juniper and gin flavor that compliments very well.

Today's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

1) Great Lakes Christmas Ale (7.5%): A Winter Warmer from Ohio that has flavors of iced gingerbread cookie and spices. Some pine to balance.
versus
2) 21st Amendment Fireside Chat (7.9%): A Winter Warmer from California with flavors of dark and roasted malt with an earthy pine flavor. Hints of cocoa.

3) Great Notion Ripe (7.0% canned 8/11/22): A NEIPA from Oregon with Citra for flavors of orange citrus, grapefruit, with some papaya. Strong carbonation and dry.

4) Hop Butcher Mega Bite (7.5% canned 8/9/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra and Amarillo for flavors of orange citrus, citrus flower, sweet pineapple. Smooth and creamy.
(mismatched #1 and #2 blind, correctly matched #3 and #4)

Winners:

1) Great Lakes Christmas Ale: Not my favorite style, but this is my favorite Winter Warmer I've come across. Great flavors of iced gingerbread cookies. The spice balances the sweetness nicely. A perfect example of Christmas in a glass.

4) Hop Butcher Mega Bite: Both are fantastic beers, but I think the addition of Amarillo gives this one a win here. Has some sweet tropical notes with a smooth, soft, and creamy mouthfeel. Everything I've come to expect from Hop Butcher.

 

This beer goes out to the great Christine McVie - RIP. I will miss her angelic voice. YouTube is being a PITA.

Looks to be okay now but yes there were a lot of missing music videos when i first went thru the thread, but they are there now.
