What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3695

Well, after three six-packs of cans, I finally found bottles. There's definitely a difference, not sure if one is better or worse than the other, but the bottle has a little brighter hop profile, not nearly as impressive a head.

It's super windy outside, and the temp is falling fast. I found out today that my aunt passed away a couple weeks back, she was 95, so I really need this tonight. If I didn't have to work tomorrow morning, I'd do a vertical of BCBS. Rest in peace aunt Jeanne.

Wormtown Wet Hop IPA 2022

 

North Coast's Old Rasputin was a gateway beer into bigger stouts for me. This is part of a beer advent 12 pack that I'm doing with some bros and is tasting much better than I remember it. Cheers!

 

Cryo Fresh Torpedo Wet Hop IPA - I wanted to try this but didn't want the mixed pack that it was in and figured singles would pop up eventually, and tonight I saw one. Who is buying these mixed packs anyway? Three shelf beers and a one off is just not very appealing...

This bottle has some age on it (09/09) but beggers can't be choosers and this did remain refrigerated since it arrived at this store (how I know that: out of curiosity's sake I occasionally monitor some product to see what moves and what doesn't and to see if I am correct in some of my assessments). This also has Mosaic in it, which is not my favorite and hoping that the Citra, Simcoe and YCH 301 trial hops are the stars of this show.

Pours a semi-hazy yellow with a decent head, moderate carbonation. On the nose I am picking up a hint of the Mosaic onion/garlic but there's also a pleasant citrus and stone fruit thing going on as well. Taste is good, the hops have definitely faded a bit but it does have both a pleasant taste and aftertaste and there are some interesting things going on here. But with that being said nothing too special and it fits right in with the more new-school IPAs which I do enjoy but this would get lost in the current sea. Fun beer with a few interesting flavors, definitely drinkable and was worth trying but yeah, just too similar to so many other beers...for better or worse. Budmo!
