I know this is not an Imperial Stout, but it is a Session Pastry Stout with maple syrup, coffee and...BANANAS!

Decided to jump into the 2019 parabajava first thing from my box of FW goodies. And damn is it good. Great coffee flavors laid over that wonderful boozy, dark, dried fruit parabola baseline. Really enjoying this one tremendously and am now officially jacked to the teets about the fresh batch!

Drank a bottle of the same version earlier. Does it seem a little thinner than normal to you?

    Forgot to post here...

Boulevard Brewing - Maple Mood. "Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Aged on Maple Syrup" 12.5% abv. A bit sweet, fairly strong maple flavor, along with typical dark chocolate flavors. slick feel, full bodied.

2 of my favorite go to imperial stouts. I love the big roasty notes from butcher and the berry / cinnamon like notes from the coffee in bacon and eggs. The cinnamon isn’t a pepper flavor like over roasted beans but a something different and better. With the “cold” weather these are hitting the spot.

I've been planning to join the thread, after lurking since it was started, but thought I'd chime in to confirm that Parabajava was in fact released in 2019, as I had it at the Propagator in Venice in May, 2019. Had a flight of that included Parabajava, Parabola, and Napa Parabola. Like a great many things, I'm sure COVID messed with the releases.

The Propagator is actually in Mar Vista not Venice:stuck_out_tongue:
I want to like that places taproom but its usually disappointing as hell.
IDK if Buellton and Paso get priority , but the vintage tap list always lacks.
Been to Paso Robles though and the barrel aged list was even more disappointing than the Propagator!

The bottle shop at the Propagator always makes me week in the knees though!

Shit, should've remembered that --wife and I stayed at the Marina Del Rey hotel while she was doing some consulting at Sony. We enjoyed the area.

As a lager lover, I was lucky enough to have some freshly-tapped STiVO during another stop there.

Don't feel bad, even i call it venice sometimes
If you ever find yourself in that with area....Find some ENEGREN. Anything from them. I'd even go as far to say that it's worth driving to Moorpark from the Westside.

    Teotihuacan - Barreled Souls

Leaves a thick webbing of lace and a thin film with no legs.

Dark roasted chocolate mole with char roasted malt is exquisitely balanced by the habanero pepper. So simple, so well crafted with a clear distinction between the elements that lets the brain blend them together after each sip.

The flavor is filled with dark chocolate and charred malt. Nothing is overdone here, not sweet, not bitter, not hot, just all dancing together. The finish is long and blunt, fading ever so gradually.

Creamy smooth and dense. This bottle is labeled at 13.2%. The alcohol and the pepper blend a nice warm heat that clings to the tongue, cheeks, and throat. Soft carbonation tingles.

This is the perfect accompaniment to the book I am reading, Under the Volcano - Malcolm Lowry. The Mexican theme, the high alcohol, the fine craftsmanship. The book is outstanding. This beer is just short of outstanding. It celebrates the base stout, with the cacao and habanero as complimenting characters. The rest of the bottle is destined to pair with a smoked burger and Gorgonzola. If I can wait that long.
