Was down at TG this last weekend. What is this world we live in where I can choose from 13 stouts inculding Assassin and MD, but only 8 IPA's of which only one is a pale and only two others are under 7%. WTF is happening to the craft market that I can easily get Assassin or MD, but DDH, Galaxy, Mosaic Sue, Zeelander, FSM, Mozee, 1492, etc... haven't seen the light of day in a hot minute.

That concludes my monthly bitching about TG brewing choices. On another note, Sosus is awesome as always. Now I only wish I could get the previous deal of $35 a case I scoop up last time it was canned. A man can dream I suppose.

Read the first paragraph of your post and my mind immediately went to Sosus....which you proceeded to mention in paragraph 2 lol. Definitely saddens me that it has been reduced to a one-off brew. Love that beer!

That's a beer I haven't thought about in a long time. I dont remember it ever getting canned, perhaps I'm wrong in that, but if that so then I would say it was last brewed in 2020ish for a bottle release if memory serves me right.

I feel your pain, it was one of my original favorites from TG and still remains on that list. Wish it would of moved to 4 glass 12'ers instead of the bombers, but what can you do. Speaking of Mosaic single hop, I'm surprised we still get Pompeii as a core release, as finding it fresh seems to be impossible.

Anyone else who had the KBBS vintages on draft last weekend enjoy the older vintages more? I had Reserve, 22, 21, and 20, and I liked them more the older they got. Maybe I'm an outlier?

What did you enjoy more about each older vintage?

Personally I thought the older vintages were sweeter and you could taste the maple more. The newer ones I got more roastiness than coffee taste, and it over powered most of the sweetness I thought.

It just goes to show you there’s a wide variety of palates and preferences out there.
I thought the ‘18 +‘19 were the worst, which I attributed essentially to old coffee.
Everyone at our table agreed ‘19 was the worst.
Not saying anyone else is right or wrong. Just funny.

I have you your 10,000 like on your 2,000th post.

…I’m not saying that means you’re right, but it is just funny.

pre TGs “everything must be hazy era”, Pompeii was one of the best clear hoppy beers in the nation.

    That’s crazy. I guess it’s all a subjective thing.

    That’s why everyone should:

    (1) After they have enough experience with different types of beers, have enough inward reflection to try to realistically evaluate what they like and what they can say about their preferences
    And
    (2) Put information on BA and untappd through a filter.

There are lots of great beers that don’t get remarkably high scores on either site, but I don’t (personally) get excited unless a beer is hitting 4.6 or so. At that point, it’s usually pretty obvious to me that nearly everyone REALLY enjoys it. I just put that score through other filters, though. If it’s a whale or an OG or super limited by a membership or it’s a TG beer or an SP beer or so on. You have to figure out what that information means to you.

I’m rambling a bit, but it’s the same if not more true for whiskey. It’s hard to parse out information, and experience is the key to putting it all together.

Same Pompeii problem here in Central Illinois. Always months old. Last few times I've been in the Northwoods of Wisconsin I've been able to snag it usually within a month or less of canning time. Surely coincidental that I keep getting lucky but I'll take it.

TG’s distribution in Central IL sucks. and i’m not sure that’s entirely TG’s fault..

    Damn. This was expected though.

I haven’t won a single one of these and I’ve been entering since like 2015.
