I don't see why they wouldn't, seems like it'd be more of a hassle on their part to keep track of who can and can't pick up when proxies are already allowed for the season tickets (and any additional orders a ticket holder places).

I expect a 1pp limit, and even then there probably isn't going to be a lot available. They warned as much when they increased the number of available season tickets.

This is a reasonable argument, but in the past there were beers that were available for proxy, and some that weren’t. I believe VSOJ was one where they did not allow proxies. The problems associated with a season ticket pickup proxy creates a very valid and interesting argument though. Had not thought of that. What a cluster fuck.

They didn’t for VSOJ. I don’t see that changing.

Why is that a clusterfuck? I’m sure it would be rather easy to handle not allowing proxies and it would be a perk for season ticket holders.

Except for those ticket holders who aren't in Chicago, which maybe complicates it. Or maybe they take the 'tough shit, you'll get one anyway' approach. I can respect that.

As noted, they did not allow proxies for VSOJ b2. For b1 it was a traditional line up. Rev was pretty clear as to why this was for b2. They wanted it in the hands of the Chicagoland people who support them year round and limit secondary bullshit AMAP. Feel free to correct me if I'm recalling the reasoning wrong anyone.

Once they moved to online releases, VSOJ b2 has been the only beer to date that did not allow proxies. I could see a scenario where they allow proxies for DBVSOJ season ticket holders only. However, that maybe becomes messy. But it sounds like a messy logistical situation regardless.

One thing I am confident of, however they do it, Rev will pull it off without issue. Not everyone will be happy, but it'll be well executed.

Im pretty sure the season ticket holders can still use a proxy as stated in the email you got when you signed up.

Introducing the Deep Wood Series Season Ticket (‘22-’23)
Lock in one of everything now – no line, no waiting, and no browser refreshes. The Season Ticket is a one-time purchase that entitles the holder to one four-pack of every single ‘22-’23 Deep Wood Series release (July-January) at $30 off the retail price, plus the choice of a bonus four-pack from select '21-'22 Deep Wood Series releases.

Season Ticket holders will also be able to pick up their beers one day ahead of the public release, and will have first crack at Deep Wood Series event tickets and Deep Wood specialty crowler purchases. Proxy pickup for any of the release beers is allowed, and Season Ticket purchases will be applied to your Rev Rewards point balance.

Season Tickets are for in-person pickups only. No beer will be shipped.

Your Season Ticket status won't prevent you from buying a full allocation of any of the Deep Wood Series beers during their regular releases, and there is no limit to the number of Season Tickets you can purchase.

I live close enough to walk if I really wanted to (though the pub is more convenient), but I don’t see what the big deal is with proxies. The dedicated fan base is well served with the season ticket.

Also, are we sure proxies were expressly prohibited for b2? I couldn’t resist checking my confirmation email from that release, which said this:

We are NOT allowing proxy pick-ups this weekend. Your ID must match the name on your order confirmation, no exceptions. Please have your ID ready to show our staff when you pull up. (Proxy pick-ups will be accepted again the following week.)

I mean, my thought was this:

Say you are a ticket holder. So you get a proxy. Now say you want to order another 4-pack. So…you got a proxy for 1 but not allowed to get a proxy for the other?

And someone is going to police this?

Sounds like a cluster fuck with potential for a lot of confusion and ultimately potential for a lot of refunds.

All that goes away if you just say “proxies allowed”.

It was no proxies for VSOJ (along with Strawberry Jacket and Supermassive Cafe Deth on that DW release -> https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/revolution-brewing-2021.653010/page-26#post-7288194)

I have been thinking about this and since season tickets allow for proxies I assume they’ll allow for proxies here also. I get that they’re different things and I’ve been wrong before, just putting my two cents out there.

I could see a scenario where they limit the amount of proxies a person could cover for.

I received a response from Rev via FB messenger and they said that proxies would be allowed for the final release of the Deep Wood season.

    First of the season. Cheers!

Didn’t get the great deal I got last year. I bought a case at less than the four pack price at the brewery. Paid a bit of a markup this year as popularity grows since I was fearful of missing out.

Much more fruit forward for me out the gate. Not necessary dark fruit, it’s brighter-cherry, I’m enjoying it. Cheers!

Also, for regular at home Rev drinkers, do you stick with proper glassware or something else? A favorite Rev glass? If I’m looking for Rev glassware is the Deep Woods brandy snifter the best bet, outside of something more rare? Thanks.

i had the deep woods rastal stemless bulb glass from a few years back, but broke it last year around this time. was super bummed about that. but since then i have not liked any of the DW glassware options so i just use my trusty CW snifter or perennial snifter.

I got it online, haven't used it yet, but I was using a Maine beer co 10oz similar glass which worked well. Ideally though a 13oz snifter would be nice I think to account for a little head on it, much like I enjoy the 19oz TH glass for my pint can IPAs.

Snifter, beer stein, can, or old boot... there's no wrong answer.

Mostly just use my DW snifter but I have several 8-12oz glasses I rotate in to the mix. Just gotta grab something and pour.

Used to use the brandy snifter all the time but changed to this. It has become my favorite glass from a recommendation by a buddy. Holds the 12oz can perfectly. Not sold at Rev but can sometimes be gotten for free at Deep Wood Preview Parties.
