Tuesday work in the books, about another day and a half then off until 01/03 unless I do some shutdown overtime. Enjoying a Jai Alai as todays rainy front finally has blown thru. Our predicted lows for Fri/Sat/Sun are 25, 24 and 28 degrees. Funny how the weather channel turns on and off talk of global warming based on what's currently happening in the US.

[IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale (6.8%): A Fresh-hop holiday IPA from California that has flavors of red grapefruit citrus with spicy pine and caramel malts.
    versus
    2) Anchor Steam Our Special Christmas Ale (7.2%): A Winter Warmer from California with flavors of dark bread, cocoa, dark pine needles.
    versus
    3) Deschutes Jubelale (6.7%): A Winter Warmer from California that has flavors of dark fruit, molasses, cocoa, and toffee. Some light bitter pine to balance.

    4) Mikkerphone Alternative Tracks (7.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Illinois with Citra & Vic Secret for flavors of lemon citrus, grapefruit, tart white grapes. Crisp and clean.
    versus
    5) Portage Comfort in the Fog (6.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Nelson, Sabro, Citra, Sultana for flavors of tropical peach, papaya, and mango flavors.
    (All beers correctly matched blind)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Deschutes Jubelale:
I'm usually not a huge fan of Celebration, but I did enjoy it slightly more, and certainly more so than Anchor Steam, which seemed to have a flavor of malty, dark pine needles. That may be the new unpopular opinion. However, this was the first year I really appreciated Jubelale. A nicely done blend of dark fruit, molasses, and cocoa. A truly nice holiday ale in Jubelale.

    5) Portage Comfort in the Fog: Nicely tropical yet drinkable IPA. Deep tropical peach, papaya, mango, and pineapple flavors, yet dry, clean, and drinkable. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Wonderfully done. Also, the can art is appealing and tasteful. Hoping this brewery continues to expand its horizons.
