Agree with ya, Hoppin definitely nails most stouts. I haven't come across the Rocky mountain Version I'll have to check that out.

If you told me this was a barleywine, and I drank it blind, I would believe you.

A nice stout, especially for the price.

Really enjoyed this, now annual, anniversary series from a local brewer. The first year was a surprisingly wonderful rum barrel aged version, last year was a Tennessee whiskey barrel that was nice but kind of pedestrian, and I just found this year's which is a blend of Cabernet and Bourbon barrels.

So far this is a real delight. Rich chocolate and dark fruit. Has a nice a sweet but dry aspect to it. I'll probably go grab another few to enjoy throughout the season since these are also a pretty good deal at something like $8/can.

Solid stout. Whiskey/Rum barrel combo adds some complexity. Coffee & cacao are there in the finish but don't dominate. Really opening up as it warms. I haven't had any Baptist or variants for a couple years so I'm glad to have tried this. Gonna make it a point to seek out the Choc Orange version. Cheers!

Found two 4 packs of Willetized. On the hunt for more. I was worried Lagunitas would screw it up, and they knocked it out of the park. Cheers!

I'm already down 3 of the 8 I bought last week and am wishing I had bought more.

If Lagunitas switched their output to nothing but year-round Willetized I'd be totally fine with that and would continue to support them for a long time at this price point. One can dream.

I guess if anything we're lucky this still remains unchanged this year after what happened to Born Yesterday and Brown Shugga (and Hop Stoopid, Lagunitas Sucks, Imperial Red Ale, Lucky 13, Undercover Investigation Shutdown, Cappucino Stout... :sob:).

Tbh I’m not much of a Lagunitas guy aside from Willetized. I’d love to try their coffee stout, but have never seen it here.

“Imperial” has always been about ABV as far as I recall the definition. 8%+ = Imperial.

Tweak 2016 is some pretty good liquid, too. Chewy, like a fresh French pressed coffee.

Maybe breweries leave off “imperial” because some States have strange rules about ABV. DFH puts that nice “this one bottle will fuck up your shit hard” exclamation mark on the cap for that reason, no?
