I really dig the taste & feel of this offering. It's weird, lemony, pale as fuck and lightly bready. Would enjoy it on tap for sure. Crushable....Cheers!!

12oz can canned 09/?/22 into a tall Pilsner glass.
L: Pours very pale straw yellow w a soapy 1"" white head w good retention until halfway thru then eventually edge foam, very few large carbo bubbles, steady broken lacing w some banding.
S: Light noble hops, grains, lemon, pastry dough, lightly floral, a hint of crackery bread malt.
T: Soft bright lemon, kiwi, pastry dough, citrus zest, a whisper of green apple, very light yeast, a long citrus linger and zesty to the finish.
F: Gently crisp, lightly juicy light bodied feel w a semi-fast finish and a long linger. It is drying.
O: A very fruity Pils with great attitude, blend and feel. It's a little bit doughy towards the finish and is overall quite refreshing. I personally absolutely love the taste of this beer. It could possibly qualify as a crossover beer. It is very good in its style.

I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread. Was asleep at the wheel as far as it being live yesterday. 2022 was exhausting...

Cheers to @WunderLlama for this Tree House Double Nectarous DIPA, 8.0% ABV; 4.23 overall

Pours a hazed gold with one finger of eggshell colored head. Rings of lacing & Average-ish head retention

S: Tropical fruit & citrus, but not in copious amounts, Some more pineapple once pretty warm

T: Follows the nose, oranges, passion fruit, pineapple & dryness up front; some lime &nectarine as well. Dryness, Pomelo, Limes & Pink Grapefruit as this beer warms up, slight orange sweetness & a little vanilla too, Finishes dry with pineapple, grapefruit

MF: Medium body, minimal carbonation, nice balance

Great drinkability, I am sure I did this beer no favors hiding it from myself for 4 weeks +

Slowly settling into our NYE plans noted above...probably my only post for tonight, want to enjoy the show tonight and get a review in before then. This is another Utah beer that came my way via @NorsemanOne.

Bohemian Brewery - Viennese (5% vienna lager)

Pours a light amber, mostly clear, white head that is quick to dissipate; splotchy islands of white is what remains, no lacing.

Nose is a toasty, little bit of grain, minor floral notes and some light caramelization.

Taste leans mostly into the toastiness picked up on the nose; more bread like in nature than the nose led on, lightly hoppy on the finish.

Light body; very drinkable, this one goes down like water, finishes pleasantly dry and clean with low but noticeable bitterness...this beer has a pleasant snap to it.

Well crafted, well balanced, this one is a quaffer I could drink this in a few minutes with no problem.

    -------------

Look forward to sharing a new beer or two together tomorrow. Have a great night everyone; see you all in 2023!

...Coaltrain in Colorado Springs (in the past) for the past 5-6 years always had a the seasonal releases of 'Project Dank'...but they've changed personnel and apparently (in an attempt to prevent a stagnant beer selection) have severely cut down on La Cumbre beers...personally, I'm saddened, but I also understand things from a business perspective...glad you found it...somewhat surprising that it's a first time for you down in NM...such is the mystery of the 3-tier distribution system...

Pours a turbid orange color with gripping, creamy white head. The nose is dominated by juicy mango, guava, ripe orange, and passion fruit aromas.

The taste is also juicy to the extreme, with the mango, guava, and ripe orange flavors most prominent, some passion fruit, and a nice sweet oat flavor for balance. This is juicy juice. Squared.

The mouthfeel is medium and soft, per the style. If you enjoy juicy hazies, this is your Holy Grail, because it’s probably the juiciest, fruitiest NEIPA I’ve had.

Pours a dark brown with loads of dense beige head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is light malts, but I can't pick up much smoke at all. That smoke shows up more clearly on the tongue, but it doesn't quite mesh right with the malts. It's like a dunkel and a rauchbier had a bastard child. Not saying I don't like it, it's still pretty good, but it's somehow less than the sum of its parts. Still light and easy drinking, but I feel like this could have been so much more.

Other Half Green Diamonds DDH Imperial IPA. Brewed in Bloomfield NY. 8.5%ABV

Very murky yellowish appearance. Nice frothy head quickly fads away.
Slightly above medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Beer has a nice tingly carbonation to it.
Aroma is tropical fruits (terrible sense of smell).
Taste is mango, pineapple, tangerines, sweet grapefruit and orange juice.
Love the finish; lingers with really nice semi sweet oranges. Also get some prickly carbonation and a whiff of alcohol right at the end.

Excellent beer! Big hoppy Imperial IPA without being overly sweet.

De Struise Browars - Black Damnation XXIV: Octopussy

Belgian Royal Stout aged in Islay Scotch barrels for two years, from Belgium (13%).

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a reddish sheen when held up to the light and a small, creamy head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt chocolate, licorice and hints of peat and oak.

Taste is a good balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruits/red berries, with notes of raisin, fig, cranberry, lighter coffee, licorice and tobacco, as well as hints of ash, peat and oak. Finishes with a light tartness, medium sweetness and some chocolate, brown sugar and licorice lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This is the last time I buy a barrel-aged Black Albert. They have always been hit and miss but that was okay when you could get them in a 33ml bottle for 6-8€. These 750ml bottles at 35€ are an entirely different story. Basically this is way too sweet for my taste, with that strong brown sugar note that I really dislike and not enough peat for being aged in Islay barrels, while body and mouthfeel are mediocre at best as well.

Not enough Islay character for me, with this lacking in distinct peat character, despite some oak and a good, general Scotch heat in the finish. I also dislike that light tartness in the background, which may all be due to age though as this bottle is 3 years old now and has a very slightly oxidized feel to it. I always thought that stouts aging well was a myth and will avoid buying them at more than a year old like the plague in the future.

Tera Bitrate Fluctuation from Weldworks and Equilibrium. A DIPA, compliments of @JayORear.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a very hazy orange with about an inch of white fluffy head. Man, this is one thick looking IPA! The nose is full of pineapple, mango, papaya, banana, slight bready note, orange, a hint of grass.

The taste is great. Those tropical fruits make an appearance right away, but there is much more going on in the taste. Now I get orange creamsicle, citrus peel, a touch of pine, grass, pineapple, and oak. Really nice combination of flavors.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and is quite dry. The aftertaste is predominantly citrus peel to me. Overall, a really exceptional DIPA.

Likely my last beer of the year. This one is from @Whyteboar from a LIF associated with a previous round of the NBW BIF. Wolverine State Massacre BBA Imperial Dark Lager.

Pours an almost black brown. Small foamy head that recedes to a thin ring after about a minute or so.

A little bourbon on the nose followed by stewed stone fruits, raisins, a little toffee peaks in as well.

The bourbon sits in behind the woody barrel character which is sting on the tongue. Some of the the stewed fruit and a little chocolate follow. Lightly drying.

The body is moderate. There is a lightness to this despite the high ABV and barrel. Very good.

This is a very enjoyable beer. Thanks Craig! Happy New Year!

Waxed and capped bomber purchased in a set at Living Waters

Brewers notes: A blended barrel aged Imperial Stout. Three unique stout recipes in three unique casks - aged for 15 months in a Willett Rye, 16 months in a Four Roses OESK, 14 months in a Russel Reserve @woodlandwine pick and then blended to perfection. Swirls of crème brûlée, peanut butter s’mores, vanilla, and sticky bread pudding tantalize the tastebuds with every sip.

What is a Dyson Sphere? A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its solar power output. The concept is a thought experiment that attempts to explain how a spacefaring civilization would meet its energy requirements once those requirements exceed what can be generated from the home planet's resources alone. Because only a tiny fraction of a star's energy emissions reaches the surface of any orbiting planet, building structures encircling a star would enable a civilization to harvest far more energy.

Poured into a snifter, dark cola brown liquid with a thin brown creamy foam cap , settles to a. Ring

Aroma is bourbon, roast malts, brown sugar , toffee,

Taste is roast malts, dark fruits, figs, raisins, brown sugar, toffee, no char

Smooth and genteel, the 10.1 abv is very will hidden, thick , velvety

    Good beer

    Great Lakes Barrel Aged Blackout

22oz bottle labeled 2022 poured into a tulip pint glass at just above fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours the darkest brown possible with minimal light penetration and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and scattered, tiny bubbles. The aroma is mild with bakers chocolate, oak and coffee. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with notes of charred barrel, dark chocolate and slight bourbon. Minimal to medium bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with low carbonation and a semi dry finish. Overall, good. The low carbonation really throws this beer off. There's not enough barrel or ABV to counteract the sweetness with no carbonation causing it to feel syrupy and unbalanced.

I did a very gentle pour on my second glass to see if I could retain more carbonation, and it wasn't much better.

There are worse problems than great tasting flat beer however, so onward. Cheers all!

Prairie Chocolate Noir BA Imp Stout, 14.3% ABV; 4.13 overall

Pours a somewhat sludgy ebony with near zero head. Some weird brown splotches that look like microbial in nature. The second ugly Imp Stout from these guys in a week. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Dark fruit, cola, a little wine barrel, Red wine comes through as this warms up, plus dark chocolate

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry, some dark chocolate notes, red wine up front. Gets pretty boozey as this beer warms, Red Wine, barrel dryness & dark fruit also. Finishes warming with a red wine/barrel boozey edge, plenty of dryness & figgyness

MF: Fairly chewy, near zero carbonation, warming booze

    Some rough edges, but interesting
