Ya know, if we are all going to put our hand in the fire, I might as well tempt the fates too…

Barrel Aged - New Old Stock - Bissell Bro’s

That head gradually compressed, becoming a dense cream before leaving wide puffy rings and becoming a thick blanket. The beer is more chocolate brown than the black it appears in the picture.

They are playing big league with the bourbon, yet by no means overpowering. The vanilla and oak provided highlights, while the dark roasted malt and chocolate hold a firm base. The bourbon gives a little kick at the end of each sniff. Warmth brings out black licorice and mild booziness.

YIKES! The bourbon is strong on the first sip. However, it mellows with warmth and acclimation. The oak and vanilla are a close second, fading quickly to eventually allow the roasted malt and dark chocolate make their mark. Warmth is the key to this beer. Cold it is all out of proportion overwhelming the base beer. At 55° - 65° it really comes into fine focus. The sweetness and gives way to bitterness, without shifting the balance.

Full body, slick, smooth texture against the hot alcohol is a bit much at first. But then warmth and a mild numbing of the tongue and gums mellows out the alcohol. Still, it feels more like 18% than 11.8%. Soft carbonation shimmers over the mouth.

Baltic Porters just seem right for cold, dreary, wet days. As the sun sets, this beer is adding warmth as one might expect from a smoldering fire in the hearth. It is just PACKED with aromas, flavors, and body.

AS AN AFTER NOTE, I have been making a giant pot of chili, so most of this bottle had a chance to warm to near room temperature. AND WOW! The transformation is spectacular. All the imbalance is gone and now it is purring with a low rumble all all counts.

Another local stout that I’ve been wanting to try. Very chocolatey and boozy.

Because of this thread, any time I go to the beer store, I look for imperial stouts. Thanks @Resistance88 and everyone else that posts here.

Does it taste fine? Or is it sour, tart cherry "infection"?

Tastes like stout with bourbon. Not sour or tart. A bit oaky.

I’m not the biggest Four Roses fan, but it tastes fine though not as bourbon forward as in the past.

@jmdrpi Looks like we had the same idea.

Just Here for the Churros - Barreled Souls

Definitely has the Churros aroma, incredibly sweet cinnamon, with chocolate and vanilla poking their heads out. The roasted malt is barely noticeable. The flavor is more democratic allowing chocolate pudding and the roasted malt to show. Cinnamon is still the main event. Sweetness is also more tame with a fair amount of bitterness following. Very full body, soft, smooth, and slick texture. Faint tingle of carbonation. Alcohol is warm and as present as expected.

Pretty good beer. Tastes like a straight up Imperial Stout without any nonsense added.

And people* say this thread isn't necessary

It was one person, forgot his name but he also said to start an IPA thread. He's probably over 60

Haven't had anything good in a while, had plans for xmas and NYE but with me getting covid Xmas week and the accident all that shits been put aside. Finally getting back into some normalcy though so I'll try and post some bangers I have.

I wish I could find more of these now because they would probably be marked down. Not worth $38, but damn good
