    Of course I have!

    Here’s a quick Shanex story: a bit more than twenty years ago I enlisted to be a soldier here, did basic training for a bit over two months and shortly after started working at the Mess bar (the place for officers to enjoy a couple of beers/alcohol in the evening).

    I had heard of Picon before, because of my grandma who used to own a bar then a restaurant.

    And we had Picon, the thing is it was almost always the Alsatians regiments that would ask about adding it to their draft 1664. Picon is literally a tradition in Alsace added to a more macro beer or at least was still a thing in ~2002.

    See: I still have even a Picon glass, I got this one from my grandmother btw…

    That is to cool! When I visit your side of the pond next ill have to make sure I take home more souvenirs. As a 12-16 year old I wasn't thinking of souvenirs the times I visited unfortunately. Cheers!

    Happy hump day ba. Home nice and early here. Into it w/ straight outta Middletown, tipa, equilibrium. This is excellent straight forward hop juice. Crazy smooth for the abv, not terribly sweet, and good stone fruit notes.

    No one does as a younger teen. But photos sure are fine memories too.

    I’m not sure yet what states or US region I’ll visit next, while I enjoyed NY and the Southwest a lot, I think visiting something new to me would be great too.

    Have you hit Louisiana yet? It's on my places to visit next along with Florida. I'm literally right there and I still haven't been to Louisiana.

    I was thinking of it too, never been to Louisiana and New Orleans, neither Florida but worth considering obviously.

    There are some “tours” that try to makes you do most sightseeing over ten-twelve days, with a local guide. That’s what I did for the Southwest and had a blast.

    1) Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel (5.0%):     A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread and spice, chocolate, and nuts.
    versus
    2) Hofbrau Dunkel (5.5%): A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread, Munich malt, and light flower. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel:     Two great German Dunkels. Hofbrau is pretty good. It carries the classic Hofbrau flavor. I describe it as grassy Munich malt and lightly floral flavors that all of their beers seem to have. Ayinger has brown bread with alight gingerbread spice and some chocolate and nut malt flavors to balance it out. Absolutely fantastic flavors here and one of the best.

    Well I never do this (mix liqueur and beer), but between @Shanex, @zid, and @Luscious_Malfoy posts I had to try it for myself. And wow this is fuckin delicious!! Never would have thought I would like it. Didn't have high life closest thing I got is Spaten lager German on German amiright. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.

    i am definitely trying this tonight. although, save for a pit stop on the way home, all i have is Michelob Ultra to use. but, hey, it just might work right? cheers!
