The fresh cans of Double Nelson and Song of Summer I had last year were both amazing. Abner not so much.

When I arrived around 3pm, the staff were in the middle of restocking the on-site fridge with new bottles of Ann. They are serving it via a decanter and it looked like they had one going constantly today. Based on that info, I think you’d be safe showing up at 4:30pm and still getting a glass of Ann.

Thanks for the helpful post. I’m not scurrred of the price, but do you mind sharing the price and size of the pour?

Re: back "roads" in VT. For years, Google et al. never sent out real time data-gathering vehicles to generate updated mapping of roads in the sparsely-populated NEK. In VT, some dirt roads are classified as "Class 4" meaning they are only navigable in high-clearance 4wd or recreational vehicles, are marginally maintained, and although mostly named, are often only seasonally passable. It is up to the town to "throw up" a Class 4 road to officially transform it into a "trail" - with no more maintenance responsibilities. When GPS data isn't updated to account for these conversions...well, you know the rest!

My one and only trip up to Hill Farmstead was in August of 2016. We relied on the navigation system in my Equinox that, on the way from Saratoga to Stowe directed us to a ferry crossing as part of the drive. And while I felt inconvenienced at first about taking the ferry it turned out to be a super nice trip across whatever body of water it was we crossed.
That same GPS brought us from Stowe to Hill Farmstead with no issues aside from feeling like a much longer ride than anticipated.
I think it's safe to say that your experience may greatly depend on the direction you are coming from and the time of year.

My GPS tried to do that my second trip up there and not knowing how much time that would have added I was like "hell no, I don't remember taking a ferry my first time thru," and found an alternative. I wasn't even sure if the ferry was going to turn out to be real or not, but it's interesting hearing now it indeed being real with someone actually taking it.

For you Toast powerusers out there: Is there a way to pre-set pickup times to make the checkout process easier? When I signed on at 7am this morning, the pickup time popup didn't show up and it won't let you add bottles until you click it. I refreshed a couple seconds later and the pickup time window showed up that time but Ann was already sold out. Hard to describe but does anyone else have that same issue and, if so, is there a way around it to make checkout faster?

It's funny hearing these driving stories. I have been there several times dating back to 2015. I only had an issue once in December 2019, coming from River Roost / Big Fatty's in WRJ. Ended up taking Kenniston Hill Road, which connects to Piperville Road, which apparently connects to the infamous Sparhawk Road. We had to turn around because of snow and zero idea what lied ahead. Still made it there in time to have Vera Mae for the first time.

It was much easier when HF posted the driving directions on their website!

The safest bet is to stick to the state roads/highways with numbers on them until you get within ~2 miles of Hill. I am sure a VT resident can be more precise about the safest route.

I am not a poweruser, just a regular schlub with average internet. You have to get lucky refreshing the page until you get the pickup time, THEN fast enough to add the bottle and checkout, or you know how to use bots.

Doesn't help that it seems like people who got one yesterday were trying again today, some getting bottles in their cart. /old man yells at cloud

I thought that it was 1 bottle per ID for the duration of the release?

It is. Apparently that didn't stop people from trying this morning "for fun".

I tend to have better luck with a phone on the mobile site vs my laptop. I've been bit by the same issue you had but only on my laptop.

At 7:00:05 a.m. EST the store wasn't accepting orders.

    I hit refresh.

At 7:00:17 a.m. EST Ann was sold out.

Somewhere there's a Russian AI with a warehouse full of whales and Taylor Swift tickets laughing at all the meat puppets.
