Ditto. I had to refresh four times before the time slot came up.

How many people do we think are trying to purchase this on any given day?

That trick clearly only works if you buy a jar of honey first.

Out of curiosity, does Toast work like eventbrite where once it's in your cart you have time to complete checkout or will it get taken out of your cart if you're not fast enough?

Someone needs to create a live-action video of what this whole process would look like in a liquor store.

Back in ~2011 when CBS was still a keg-only holy grail type of beer, I remember going to a CBS tapping at Blind Tiger in the west village. There was an ultra nerd behind me (ticked every single beer nerd box visually) who was literally dry humping me in excitement, while squealing at the bartender and waving a $20 around. The keg tapped in around 10 minutes and he missed out and looked absolutely devastated. I think it would look a lot like that.

Has the COVID era of online ordering really made us forget #linelife?

Same reason people lose their shit over any luxury item.

Combination of quality, exclusivity, and collection-mentality.

I'm also not aware of any other breweries selling BA farmhouse ales that were brewed in 2014 and then aged in barrels for three years and then bottle conditioned for another 6 years.

Considering HF is widely considered to be the best brewery in the world (whether you personally agree or not), that basically makes Ann the default pinnacle of achievement in this style of beer.

Of course, the taste is subjective. But objectively, the combination of the above puts Ann on a level of desirability that very few beers could attain.

Alright, I feel a bit guilty posting this. I'm an outsider, and it's truly just do an amazing collection of events that alligned perfectly, coupled with getting very lucky yesterday that I was able to both try Ann and purchase a bottle. I'm extremely grateful, and I understand just how fortunate I am that I was able to obtain this bottle. This isn't lost on me. I am hopeful for all those that haven't lucked out yet, that you will also be able to purchase a bottle. I'll still have a follow up once my trip is over regarding my overall experience on this trip and how each component went.

Honey not shown, but purchased.

For this particular group of beer nerds, more oxidation = objectively better. Add hype brewery / fomo / limited availability and herd mentality, well, there you go.

Did anyone have an issue today? When I was finally able to get through, the products were listed but it said “online ordering unavailable”. I refreshed again and the products disappeared and the webpage was empty like the store was closed. When I refreshed again, the page then let me shop, but I wasn’t fast enough even though I was in and out in literally 4 seconds tops.

    Jesus fuck.

Yea it’s a wildly annoying process. Doesn’t seem to be working right and then poof it’s over and you lost.

After 7 days of trying, I finally snagged a bottle of Ann. Should be a lovely drive up this afternoon, as we got 5" of snow up here overnight!

Every time a tourist scores a bottle of Ann, a local dies.
