I usually won't buy a hazy if it's over a month old (unless it's something I'm really wanting to try, then I'll go up to two). The VT/West coast style holds up better with time imo. Hpwever, I've held onto a couple TH beers for longer than normal and they've been fine, even at 3 months. To me, 90% of their hazies have a peak of about 1 week after canning, and after that, there's just something extra that drops off (it reminds me of how good they taste on tap at the brewery). It levels out from there for a couple months and then starts to deteriorate even further.

If I’m going to make the trip, I’m not coming home with less than a case. Then as soon as they’re in my fridge, I start getting anxious that they’re going rancid.

I could probably cross-post this in the ‘Is 8 Pints a Day Too Many’ thread.

Yeah, it's 8 pints a day for me after a visit to Tree House. This is why I'm taking entire months off from purchasing IPAs.

Last night I drank my last can of Curiosity 127 (11/3 canning date) and it was far better than the first can I tried (which would have been right around Thanksgiving). Tree House beers, for me take a long time to drop off for the most part. I have no issues holding on to some for ~3 months.

Agree. A couple times I’ve had TH beer hauls last longer than planned for various reasons and before you know it I had 2-3 month old beer. I’d say it loses maybe a little something but still fantastic. I also find that they often taste better 1-2 weeks after canning for whatever reason.

Tree House IPAs last two, maybe three weeks in my fridge. That said, I do think they hold up better than a lot of other breweries ipas.

    Looking forward to trying pink

Any town should welcome the potential of hundreds of people visiting each day. We usually stop and get something to eat in the immediate area whenever we take the trip up. It definitelty helps local businesses, and at this point, they have a lot of expeience doing this type of thing.

100 percent. It's still wild how the pizza place across the street from TH Charlton couldn't capitalize on it.

Tewksbury as a town has been pretty welcoming and accommodating from what I've seen publicly. There are a few cranky folks on the town Facebook page, but that's probably to be expected with any change in any town.

There's also an Italian bakery/deli expected to open across Livingston Street from Tree House, not to mention the Starbucks that opened just down 38 a couple months ago. Lots of positive change for Tewksbury lately!

There’s always a few Karen’s and Rick’s in every town. They also fight the Christmas tree at the library and the street sweeper coming by their house too early at 10am.

God forbid you get their table as a server at the 99

The closing of the pizza place across from TH absolutely blows my mind.

Imagine how bad you'd have to be at running a business to fail at selling pizza across the street from the biggest destination brewery in the US.

I’m not shocked about the pizza place.

First, that spot is in the middle of nowhere and realistically driving in and out sucks! We all know this from the other turn(up until TH opened it was the middle of nowhere)

Second, unless you are sending takeout over to treehouse most people want to enjoy their food onsite at treehouse with treehouse beer. Not over at some comparatively bland pizza place seating. I am assuming they were NOT byob.

Then you are also up against The Armsby Abbey with Hill Farmstead draft guaranteed, among other rare beer options. Armsby has always been a designated stop anytime I’m in that general area, even years before TH. I think folks agree. Also BT’s is BYOB and has the history being a stop from the old treehouse spots.

You also have to consider that the mindset of most folks after being at treehouse is get the hell out and try to find somewhere else to make the trip worthwhile. Especially considering the different states people come from. Not just sit in some small pizza place. Realistically I don’t think they ever had a chance at brining folks in. People coming from New York or PA aren’t interested in a random pizza place in Charlton, MA. My gut is they weren’t pulling in much of any crowd. Let alone the Treehouse folks.

I’d still rather have their pizza then Habanero double ipa

The difference is, BTs and Armsby offer very good food. BTs may look like a good place to get Dysentery, but once that tray of food hits the table, you quickly realize why you can't get a table during lunch/dinner hours. Zorbas must have been pretty awful. Judging from the outside, I'm betting it was one of those places where the interior has never been updated and looks exactly the same as the day they opened, but much more run down. Imagine the kitchen

Dropping cinder blocks in front of your parking lot entrances to keep TH patrons from parking there certainly didn't help.
