JK Bière De Coupage: Young saison blended with a small amount of spontaneous beer. They killed this style. So light and refreshing, with an incredible depth of flavor from Spon. Definitely in the top beers I’ve had from them.

Drowned Lands Slow River Mixed Ferm Saison: Aroma and flavor is great. A ton of ripe pineapple, baking spices and lemon/lime Jello. The carb is the only thing bumming me out. Head dissipated quickly and it’s making it feel thinner than it should.

Birds Fly South - Saison is Dead
Almost didn't buy this beer but I'm glad I did. $10.99 for a four pack is a steal. Not sure what I thought I wouldn't like about a open fermented saison hopped exclusively with mosaic. Now I'm wishing I bought more.

Pours hazy yellow with a nice cap if foam. Smells like grapes, green apples, honey, and honeydew melon. Initial taste is a bit more tart than expected, but I'm used to it by the third sip. Tastes like green apples, pineapple, banana, clove, yogurt, and some pepper. Finishes dry and leaves a hoppy aftertaste. Nice example of a hoppy saison.

I'm not the biggest Saison guy, but I occasionally partake in one. Tonight had a glass of Round Guys Brewing (Lansdale, PA) Imperial Cyrano, a bigger (9.2% abv) version of their Saison called Cyrano. Pale bready malt but peppery spice in the dry finish.

staunchly unfiltered so near totally opaque. Looks like one of their NE IPAs. But the nose and taste checks every box. Solid Saison.

Are there any Brett saisons in 4/6 packs? If Boulevard made saison brett in 6 packs I would buy cases.

You can get Goose Island Sofie in six-packs. You need to age the bottles for the Brett character to become noticeable.

I discussed a bottle I cellared for 15 months in a past NBS thread:

    "Overall:

I really liked this beer! A word of warning for the faint of heart: this beer gets pretty funky with cellaring.

Not sure if they’re in your distro, but the last time Oxbow released Sasuga and Crossfade (both Brett saisons) they were in 330ml 4 packs. It was an amazing format change.

    they are definitely around
Both 2nd shift and perennial in Missouri do canned Brett beers often

there’s probably a lot in your neck of the west

I have no info on any age differences of these beers, but the main difference between them for me was that the canned beer featured some acidity. The canned beer is part of the B United tanker project. Both beers had plenty of sediment I am happy to say. The touch of sourness gave the canned beer more complexity, while the more naked bitterness of the bottled beer made it more uncompromising. Both very satisfying, but my personal tastes preferred the uncompromising approach. I couldn't say if the differences were more due to batch variation vs a product of handling/packaging differences. Wouldn't be the first time I had some sourness in a tanker-to-can beer though. Great beer.

Blueprint Brewing - Wendy Peffercorn. Saison brewed with peppercorns. Earthy spice and slightly funky grassy aroma. Taste is similar with dry peppery finish.

JK Queens Order: 4.8% Farmhouse saison w/ tallow honey and lemon peel. Quite possibly the most “clean” tasting saison I’ve tried from JK. So incredibly good. Light, fluffy carb, honey and citrus, clove and baking spices. Their mixed culture is there but light and complimentary. The primary saison yeast dominates and makes it a pleasure to drink.

    Enjoying a Haw River Saison.

Taste is a light malt base that takes on the yeast and hop impartation of lemon and pepper.
Finishes with a lemony hopping that balances this beer nicely.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and very refreshing.

Overall a delightful Belgian Blonde-Saison hybrid ale. Remember really liking this at one of our neighborhood tastings this fall. I would not hesitate to buy a four-pack down the road!

cracked open in honor of #Celluary. i’ve been hanging on to this one since late summer of 2020. it’s still going strong though. plenty of life left in this bottle.

very oak-forward with some white wine and hay and even some citrusy lemon. very full mouthfeel that doesn’t seem to have lost too much on the carb. always a pleasure to sip one from this series. cheers!!

Bottled 2021 - best before end 2025 - enjoyed on 2/18/2023. Poured from a capped-and-corked 750mL bottle into my Brasseurs de Garde flute.

Ectoplasmic appearance! Clear apple green liquid with an active magnolia cap. Soapy/sticky lacing; fair retention.

Funky nose suffused with barnyard and botanical qualities. Floral/herbal and slightly cheesy.

Tart, intensely earthy/grassy with a lasting bitterness. Hints of sorrel and wormwood. White pepper emerges with a touch of funk and unripe pear. Long, dry finish with a crackery malt base. Quite unusual.

    Light-bodied, silky, and somewhat tannic.

Weird and refreshing table beer - less complex than I expected, though the recipe is quite a mystery!
