Another weekend ends...and I'm drinking another @snaotheus beer. This beer caught my eye when I first opened the box because of its style and who it was brewed by. An 8% witbier brewed with rye...I really didn't know what to expect but that combination sounded quite interesting. It turned out to be a really awesome and good beer...

I say we adopt this logo as our official NBW logo, someone just cut and paste our avatars on all the faces...

    A beauty of a beer…

Beautiful looking beer, gold that looks clear and bright but with a witbier cloudiness to it, big perfectly white head...leaves substantial lacing and a thick white carpet remains for a long time.

Nose is witbier spice...the coriander is most noticeable to me but blends well with a very pleasant orange smell that is almost potpourri like in nature; I think it is the blend of coriander and rye that makes it come off this way...great aroma.

Taste is follows the nose, same combination and it works very well; it has hefty grainy malt presence to it than other witbiers...like an imperial witbier; just a beautiful soft orangeness lingers in the aftertaste...

Mouthfeel is medium, great carbonation...gives the impression of being belgian, the carbonation is very lively but comes off super smooth; very low oak tannin like bitterness shows in the finish after going down very clean.

This is a very tasty and unique beer, it is downright dangerous with how it drinks for its abv, beware. Thank you for sharing this beer Ryan.

Hope you all have a wonderful week, see you all next week in about 144 hours...I'll start the timer now.

I went into it thinking I was going to enjoy it and excited for it to be my first beer in a while but I just didn't find it to be anything special at all and it was a bit too thick/heavy; about halfway through the glass I was kind of over it already. I'm not that into DIPAs anymore but even putting that aside it still sat the same with me.

I haven't had any NN yet this year but you are correct, there is so much of it everywhere.

Yeah if KC wins will have Andy and the Kelce brothers, would be a good matchup. The Bengals would probably be easier to beat, though. But hard to believe the Phils were in the World Series and now the Birds are in the bowl, strange times indeed :stuck_out_tongue:

Bourbon barrel-aged 3 Bean Stout from Lervig. This is a stout with cocoa, vanilla, and tonka beans.

2020 can poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a solid inch of light brown head. The nose is amazing. Tonka beans, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, salted licorice, milk, and some dark fruit. Not getting much of the bourbon barrel on the nose. Let's see about the taste.

The taste is wonderful. Here I definitely get the bourbon. Vanilla, salted caramel, booze, chocolate, black licorice, molasses, brown sugar, some roasted malts, dark-roasted coffee beans, and some oak. Lovely and beautifully integrated.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Aftertaste is licorice and charred wood, with a kiss of burnt toffee.

I agree wholeheartedly. Recent cans have been good, but lacking IMO. This 1986 yeast is a whole other level of delicious. I unfortunately will have to buy many more of them.

So many beers to buy right now. So many. OH 9th anniversary beers. OH Bananaversary coming out soon. Mortalis. Lees 1986. GI 2 yr BW. I will be in the doghouse. Thankfully, the dog lives in the house and sleeps in the bed. LOL!

    Unfortunately???? You mean fortunately?? Haha.

I'm with you. WAY too many beers purchased recently (and received via trades). I need to slow down, but the beer life is just too damn good!!!

    750 ml. bottle.
    Best before : 18/03/2031.

Gentle to moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch head (which is gone in a second!) over a pinkish-purple body with no lacing, but there are bubbles coming up from the depths of the Tilquin glass, however.

Nose of all kinds of "forest fruits" as the label says. A little bit of funk and slight citrus aromas are present as well.

Taste is all the berries: "black currant, raspberry, red currant, blackberry, wild blueberry" and nicely tart and a tad funky.

Feel is really, really nice, belying the lack of head or lacing.

Overall, a nice treat and would recommend!
    Cheers!!

Eat the Rich from Adroit Theory in Virginia. Part of the Extreme Stout Box. Comes in at 12% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours midnight black with a slim layer of light brown head. The nose is full of roasted malts, some vanilla, sesame, dark fruit, and molasses.

The taste is intense imperial stout! Lovely! Huge roasted malts, coffee grounds, tobacco, charred oak, vanilla, and some black licorice. Just a straight up RIS without anything added. Lovely!

Mouthfeel is thick and robust. Aftertaste is dominated by roasted malts.

Really enjoying this Surly Yummi Bear WCIPA 6.9% ABV
They nailed the Gummi Bear taste/feel and the bready malts are just a huge bonus. It is perhaps a tad sweet, but a long lingering resinous finish holds back any excess. This is a fun beer! Cheers!

12oz cans from a variety 12pk into a nonic pint glass and also a nucleated shaker pint glass.
L: Pours almost clear golden caramel w a 1/2" soapy off white head w OK retention, lightly visible carbo, not much lacing but more lacing w the nucleated glass.
S: A hint of sweet caramelized malts, light grains, lightly fruity, apricot, very clean.
T: Soft honey bread, caramelized malts, grassy hops, apricot, light citrus, honey, late pine resin, yeast, malts are more prevalent w warming, moderately sweet w a gummy bear candy quality, crusty bread again in the finish, lightly pale finish.
F: Smooth, glassy & slick hard candy med-bodied feel w a rounded center and a med to med-long finish that has a delicately long linger. It is lightly drying.
O: A slightly rustic tasting brew with nuances of British and American styles resulting in a brilliant IPA that is EZ drinking, refreshing and is essentially quaffable. I would buy this beer again. It is excellent in its style.

Boulevard Barrel-aged imperial stout & barleywine ale. Compliments of @DIM.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with little head. Perhaps more dominated by the stout? The nose is dominated by dark fruit. Plums, red grapes, blackberries. A hint of toffee and maple also comes through.

The taste is great. Roasted malts, maple, brown sugar, toffee, tons of dark fruit, and some nice chocolate notes. I definitely think this leans more towards a stout than a barleywine, but I love this blends! Mouthfeel is creamy and viscous. The aftertaste is sweet, but not too sweet. Overall, a great blend!

This should cap it but who knows?
I work hard and play hard. For a day or two.[IMG]
To me one of, if not the top, hard rock song ever written. It just has everything those decades of hard rock had: Super overdriven amps with little effects, unison guitar solos, synths, and amazingly solid rhythm with bass and just amazing drums. This really bleeds young, free, party is life and just incredible musicians.
