I always forget how stellar this beer is. I guess that's why only 1 or none make it to the cellar to be aged.

I got try this for the first time via BIF in 2009, it was great then and it's great now. Richly sweet and boozy with a lot layers to parse and ponder.

Probably better after a few years to mellow all that sugar is what I thought.

I agree 100%. Past few years have been a paler color and much more aggressive hops. This year seems to have a more balanced malt to hop ratio. More English vibe than before. Damn, now I want more.

This is probably the cheapest thing you and I want more of, right? lol, I plan to buy more.

Thankfully. The beers I’ve been buying have gone through the roof. Even I’m having a hard time justifying my beer budget of late for trades and my own stock. I mean, with Other Half things, Mortalis, and some trade BWs, I’m in the $300+ range for barely a dozen beers? I need a checkup. $16 for six ‘23 Bigfoot? Yes!

Shopping at the Mills River Gift Shop today for some friends and some gems for me is leading to this lovely beer this afternoon. Great as always, this beer gets me :sunglasses:.
    Cheers!

    #barleywinewednesdays amirite?

this was excellent. definitely in the english-style. the apple brandy barrels really compliment the base barleywine. it only got better as it warmed and opened up over the hour+ long session. cheers!!

Sounds like a great one! Is any of their barleywine ever available online, or is there a club or something?

their BA releases are all online lotteries and no proxies i think.

edit: i do think they have 4 or 5 locations to pick up from though.

A great sipper. I loved the version 2.0 ; fucker was one of the best barleywines i have ever had and this one is just as good.
Fuckin trash that they changed to can format, it's in 16oz cans and nobody wants a damned 15.3% beer in a pint can. WTF?!?!

Arcadia Ales - cereal killer barleywine ale

Think I saw that Short’s bought this brand after it went under, though I didn’t see anything about this one listed. Would be nice.

Ye Olde Curmudgeon from Black & Gray, a BA Barleywine that clocks in at a sessionable 15% in an 8oz can, that'll help keep me oughta' trouble.

This was really enjoyable. Great cognac presence, solid base beer, purposeful carb. A treat. Cheers all!

Wabasha Brewing Co. - Night Queen bourbon barrel aged barley wine

-20 windchills and absurdly large parking lots get me all up in barley guts. Double checking that label though because I’m suspicious this is actually the apple brandy barrel version.
