Planning a trip home to PA and stopping thru Pittsburgh. I’ve narrowed it down to these two breweries, but if I can only stop at one which would you suggest? The only deciding factor is quality IPAs. So which is it?

I’ve been to brew gentlemen in 2015. I was blown away by them then. I’m not sure if they’re still that good, or if the impression would be the same all these years later. I have to assume they’ve expanded in production volume since then.

I know old thunder has some connections to brew gentlemen, with former brewers leaving BG to start OT.

Anyone who knows what’s up recently please chime in.

I'd go to Old Thunder if you can only stop at one. Taproom is really nice. It is in an old post office. They both make good IPAs though I might give a slight edge to old thunder. Dancing gnome is my personal favorite for IPAs in Pittsburgh and it's only a bit down the road from Old Thunder. Can't really go wrong with any of them cheers

I was wondering why Dancing Gnome isn't in your list. As the other poster mentioned it's pretty close to Old Thunder so you could hit both. Brew Gentlemen is also pretty widely available now in the Pittsburgh area so you could probably get cans of theirs too.

I had a few things from dancing gnome but was not too impressed. Maybe I should give them another shot

Brew Gentlemen is one of my absolute favorite breweries and a must in my opinion. It is a bit out of the way, though. I have been to Dancing Gnome multiple times and have never been terribly impressed. It also gets super crowded IME. The breweries on my current potential to-do list for Pittsburgh are:

    Trace
    Necromancer
    Old Thunder
    Coven
    Aslin
