Heads Up: Karma System Revamp!

I’m curious how the revamp will affect searching reviews by Poobah status?

 

I'm curious if Poobah status still exists, or what the levels will be. Maybe it's here and I just missed it, but I think it just hasn't been posted yet.

 

no points for adding beer/places is sad.

 

Me being "Likeable Level 6" feels like the BA version of "But my mom says I'm cool!"

 

I was so close to Crusader or whatever 800 was...

 

Thanks for putting in all of the effort to revamp the karma system and add another level of interest around here. One thing I noticed while looking at the current achievements is that the points don't scale well when you reach higher levels. For example, with beer reviewer levels 10-12, you need to review 2.5k reviews for 50 points, then 5k for 55 points, and finally 15k for 60 points. It's been a long time since I've had to do any math problems like this, but I believe this will end up with a disproportionate distribution in the mid- and mid-to-high range of the total points scale and very few at the top end. Not a criticism, just something I hope you will keep in mind when determining the points required per user level. Or maybe it would be worthwhile to increase the points slightly for top achievement levels so that those who accomplish them get a larger boost to their overall points?

Anyhow doing a little of everything appears to be awarded.

 

Dude. It doesn’t feel right seeing how the points are distributed. It’s like walking in on your parents making love. You know it’s happening but you didn’t want to see it. Cheers.
