Have not read the comments yet but:
    Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig
    Cigar City Jai Alai IPA
I DO like these beers but they are for sure seen all over and I am like “they are okay nothing special.”

I was saying top 50 of my beers when rated by rDev, bottom to top. Meaning they were in the top 10% of beers ranked by furthest from average for my personal rating.

The only way you get to "see" Old Fezziwig is if you are willing to buy a mix-pack.

I refuse to buy the mix-pack so I never get to "see" that beer. :slight_frown:

    Cheers!

I'm not sure it was around long enough for classics status but I do remember having a positive impression.

It's Tree House, not Treehouse, by the way. :sunglasses:

One of the most popular breweries is constantly misspelled.

Other Half has become a complete shadow of their former selves. They're not even recognizable.

Monkish has also lost a lot of luster in the last few years.

    Cellarmaker is meh imo.

Overrated beers: Pliny and Heady obviously.

For British Columbia brews Fat Tug IPA by Driftwood is overrated as hell. Its not bad but it gets touted like the nectar of the gods.

Blue Buck by Phillips is also a little overrated. I think it's a lot of beer enjoyers entry into good craft beer so it blows whatever national lagers they had before out of the water but compared to other good craft beer it doesn't really stand out.

I agree. I think Dopplebock is the most underrated style out there, and a good barleywine is an experience all its own

Cantillon the majority of the stuff for me tastes of aspirin and if their wares were my only experience of Lambics and Gueuze I probably wouldn’t have pursued the, already highly unusual in regards to other beers, styles any further.

Can I also mention my first beer disappointment?
    Good!
Black Sheep Bitter, I remember hearing of them being set up because of unhappiness with what The Scottish & Newcastle ownership had done to Theakston’s beers and thinking it would be a long time before I would get to try them & that on the whole Theakston’s were still pretty good so I was expecting fireworks & got my first taste of twig water.

I think that all IPA's are severely overrated. I'm not a hater of IPA's but I think that all IPA's should be put in a different category when it comes to rating them. I also think that all American adjunct lagers don't belong with craft beer ratings. It's just not fair and it's inaccurate. Beer needs to be rated in individual categories and not mixed in one big jumble of different beer styles. It makes no sense to even rate beers like that because it accomplishes nothing and the results are either underrated or overrated and simply not true at all.

I agree - their lower-end beers aren't all that. I've had I think all the ones you mentioned, and I agree with you that they're nothing to write home about or purchase again. But try their higher ends ones.. wow. They're incredible. I had I think most if not all of their higher-end ones. It's been a while, so I don't recall which in particular impressed me, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. Some are more mind-blowing than others, for sure, but I'm sorry I can't recall which I preferred. Their Anniversary Ales are unbelievable. Some in particular were a work of art, like an amazing whiskey or a great wine, with complex and nuanced layers and a perfect blend of flavors. Just make sure you speak with your mortgage broker before purchasing..

I love lunch, but dinner is better for me. When covid shut the world down, an incredible beer shop here in Chicago had a sixtel of dinner that they couldn't tap. I bought it and it took me a week to find a good kegerator. I drank dinner every day for 2 weeks. It was a very good 2 weeks.

Lunch is everywhere that MBC distributes. Dinner is only available at the brewery and some lucky people that go there to get a keg and put it on tap at their establishment. That being said, I don't see Lunch as being overrated, but simply a solid entry into the MBC lineup. Dinner or Second Dinner is great when you have the opportunity to enjoy it and it's available.

Agree that Pliny and Heady are overrated, mainly because there are so many other options out there these days that use better hops and a better water profile.
