Posted this one last night in the "oldies but goodies" thread...it felt wrong not to post here amongst the dark beer lovers...

A beer I'm really not familiar with and have only had a few times now but man is it a perfect sipping beer. It is so so rich it taste and creamy in mouthfeel but with so a huge bitter finish, such great retention and lacing on it too. If I want an imperial stout, this is the beer I want...

Enjoying Sir Isaac's Stout this afternoon. This is a really well made dessert beer as the blend of figs, brown sugar, and cinnamon are subtle and working well with the base barreled beer!
    Cheers!

2014 Dark Lord. Zero carbonation on the pour. Thick. Nose is roasted malts, black licorice, a touch of soy sauce, some nice dark fruit (cherries, plums), and some toffee. The taste is fantastic. No soy sauce here. Big roasted malts, sweet toffee, chocolate, licorice, maple, oak, tons of dark fruit - blackberries, raisins, plums. Sticky and creamy. Just lovely. Definitely going to sip on this for a long time.

thanks to @TurkeysDrinkBeer for this one.

really good with the base stout additives. my only complaint is that the barrel was very hidden on the taste but this was still delicious. cheers!!

My dear friend @Alefflicted gave me a bottle of this. I had it back in 2018, and it's as good, if not better, than I remember.

This has been my biggest gripe with The Veil over the last 2 - 3 years. The have a tendency to over do the adjuncts and mask all traces of barrel. I typically try them on draft and skip the bottle unless it's a single adjunct or none at all in which case I like to stock up. They have some fantastic base stouts to work with so it's a real treat when they don't go crazy with the adjuncts. Glad you still enjoyed it. I think you will like the others from the box a bit more as they are more barrel forward options.

9/6 bottling date is definitely a winner. Another with great coffee presence. 9/8 was a total miss

Barreled Treasure from Odell Brewing. Part of the Extreme Stout box.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with a thick and creamy head - about an inch. Great lacing. The nose is roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, and cream. The taste is full of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, figs, prunes, vanilla, and an earthy note. Excellent. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy.

If you have to ask, you don’t know stouts as well as you thought.

From the bottle share at Mortalis earlier today: 2022 BBT. Glass-staining. Paint-peeling alcohol bite. Dry wood all day. Spirit-esque thinness. Kind of a FAFO stout. If he hasn’t already had his, I think @Resistance88 will like this.

Inspired by @defunksta, I compared the beer I posted above to a similar beer that was released about the same time. It is unfortunate to say, but the one on the right is better.

I loved that KBS. Probably my favorite in a while. Makes me optimistic for their future blends. Only ever had one beer from CW but was pleased with that as well. Cheers man.

The Decibel Magazine 2023 tour that features Cattle Decapitation in a nearly-perfect lineup, which travels super close to Milwaukee Metalfest, is causing me a lot of stress. I can't pull off both, but I can't not pull off both.
