BWs are my fav and just realized Big Foot was first released in 1983, the same year I was born. So for my 40th this year it would be awesome to drink the oldest Big Foot I can get my hands on. The oldest check in on Untapped is 1987. Does anyone have an old bottle they would be willing to trade???

No idea what it would take to trade it away.

Love this idea and will happily add any VT beers like Hill, Freak Folk, etc. to get this done for the OP.

Super generous of you! No idea if anyone still has any laying around. Need to find the right eyeballs to see this.

Might be worth reaching out to Sierra Nevada directly, I know they have a stash of older varieties but not certain how far back it goes

I slid into their IG DMs to ask what was the first year they bottled it but they haven't seen it yet.

It was first released in '83 give or take. Probably only available in CA... and it said "strong ale" on the label rather than barley wine (or derivative). I have never even seen a picture of a bottle with the "strong ale" label (only a label image). Sierra Nevada did a Bigfoot tasting video a few years back (that I can't find now) and Ken had an old bottle to show off. I don't recall the year of that bottle, but it wasn't a "strong ale" bottle. It's possible that there aren't any unopened '83 bottles left... and if there are any, I would think that they'll be held onto like museum pieces rather than something to open and drink (but anything is possible). @jesskidden

Oh I assumed I would not get a hold of a 1983 bottle. But late 80s or early 90s?

I believe this the video you are referencing with Ken (and the Pope of Foam!)

Ken had an unopened '84 bottle he showed on the video. The 'strong ale' discussion begins about 06:40 of the video.

Yeah. Thanks. This isn't the first time you've worked your magic for me. Facebook... that's why I couldn't find it.

Yeah, that's all I got. Copy of a copy, zoom out or squint for best results.

As far as I can remember/figure, SN didn't hit the northeast until long after.

Oldest BF's I got are a run of late 90s-00s.

I really should think about ... uh... "liquidating" them I guess.
