I had my first tenaya creek around 8 years ago along with a Hop Box IPA ( i think ). i forget the name of the Tenaya beer but it was named after an MTB Trail nearby.
Fun Fact: Nevada has a fuckload of awesome trails

Likely Hop Ride IPA, which is a solid year-round offering. Not familiar enough wit MBTs, didn’t see a recognizable beer from this list:

    https://www.trailforks.com/region/las-vegas/trails/

I mostly walk / hike these days, though get on a decent Trek I have every once and awhile.

Their beers across many styles work for me, they have $3 Pint Night and HH weekdays. Staff is great as are the fellow customers. Revolution and Goose Island Brew Pub are the only two breweries I’ve visited more often.

I have been drinking this since it was invented 10-12 years ago, a neighborhood brewery for me. I didn't see any from 2021 and so I was down to my last few cans, but today, it was back on the shelves. For years I've considered this the "best beer on the planet", I still do.

By the way, this clocks in at 11%, original was 9.5%, but who's counting......

My bad. Hop Ride was names after the trails and was the Tenaya Creek one and the other one was Joseph James Brewing Hop Box which i saw is closed now.

QFT - Rev and Goose get all the hype and banter, but Wild Onion Drago and Haymarket Thirsty Clare’s are the other two local stout releases I look forward to each year. Buy more of these two at this point than Bourbon County.

Wild Onion lost their 2021 Drago batch during COVID. When I reached out, the owner responded saying their glycol chiller burned out during the brewing process. They didn’t like how the base beer turned out, so they sent the 1,000 gallons to 28 Mile Distillery in Highwood, and converted it to 86 gallons of whiskey, sold under the name Drago Whiskey.

Yes, but their lead brewer Kyle Weniger has been bouncing around brewing collaborations under the name Juxta Nomad. These are typically worth a try if you come across, though I don’t think they find distribution out of the Valley.

Dire Wolf - a smooth 10.8% stout with a fine char and good notes of coffee and chocolate.

Part of that big box of stouts.
Barclay Brewing FLUX. 13.8% of motor oil (vanilla) Stout.

    4.28/5 rDev -1.2%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25
L - Do you like the night? Good, good... embrace it - zero head, little lacing, all motor oil.
S - More interesting, but still muted notes of charred chocolate, a little vanilla, toffee, molasses, brown sugar. *END*
T - Finally, even more notable aspects of the FLUX motor oil as the toffee-chocolate, molasses-sugar continues to just pile on the tongue, not a ton of vanilla on the palate. Like a blind orgy on the tongue. Goodness.
F - If you enjoy thick milkshakes or even thicker motor oil Stouts, look no further. I'm not sure I have encountered a beer this thicc before; ridiculous, but does hide that 13.8% wallop pretty well. Until it's too late and it's a week night.
O - A really intriguing beer in the big box this year (2023) - it certainly is a quality stout even if it's like being hit in the face by Mike Tyson, over and over again. Good thing they mistakenly sent me two cans, so I can look forward to another oil stout drubbing. Cheers....

Been a while since i had this and it tastes kuch sweeter than i remember. Like those coffee lollipops from Sees Candies. Not bad, but i wish it had a bit more of a traidtional espresso taste as opposed to full on sweet coffee

16.9% this year. Been holding on to this one for a while, no particular reason why. No surprise, this is plenty boozy. That usually doesn't bother me but I don't think there is quite enough here to prop up all that heat. I get some burned caramel and Molasses plus some very dark chocolate and a nice charred coffee note. The finish adds a strong woody note and heat that is more raw alcohol than sweet bourbon. Ok, but not one I'd recommend.

    Hey folks,
Still wading through the Big Box of Stouts. Great Notion Peanut Brother. 9.1%
And am currently trying to nurse this slowly as I love it... why must it end?

L - Black as night, great little caramel head-foam if you pour it right, very little lacing.
S - WOah, graham cracker coated peanut butter Reese's stout? Anyone? No? People who don't get this beer... I just fear for your taste, nose, and sense of humanity.
T - This is the high point of the beer. For 9.1% there is way more giant PB STout taste than I expected. Amazing. Even my wife had a taste and looked at me and just stated "why didn't you share this with me, you bastard?" - yeah. Reese's in a glass, but in a good, balanced, distinct way.
F - Great slick, thick roundness to this beer without ever feeling or tasting cloying or too sweet.
O - Maybe THE best PB Stout I've ever had. It's hard to pull off, but GN did. Amazing.
