Hill Farmstead (2023)

I was playing with it too, planning to go later in the week. I was able to get a pickup time at ~8:00:30 on my phone, add 3 to my cart and get to checkout (didn't checkout). Went back to the store and it was still available. Added 1 more and had the time to get back to the checkout page (again, didn't check out). I also had it up on my laptop to see if one worked better. After it showed sold out on my phone, I still couldn't get a pickup time on my laptop. Something is effed.

 

Yeah, I don’t think the “fastest” people to check out get the bottles. Seems like there are some odd glitches and ticks within the sale system where some people are going to be shut out no matter what, and other have a bit more time on their hands to make the purchase. I know nothing about web design, but I’m guessing the amount of traffic that Toast has during these hype releases can affect the interface?

I honestly laughed out loud reading this.

 

I’m 43% sure that 73% of it is speed of your internet and I’m 55% sure that 27% of it is dumb luck.

 

We need a reality tv series based around chasing hype beer, it’ll play out a lot like hoarders.

 

“So, when do you think you’re going to drink that? Are you saving it for a special occasion?”

“Oh, I’m never going to drink that. It’s too special”

When I am asked when I will open a big bottle after acquiring one, I often joke that I’ll wait until about 6mo past when it is past it’s prime, decide then that I need to make a concerted effort to open it, and set a plan for a year out.

I’m trying very hard to open big bottles within 1mo of acquiring if they have adjuncts, and within a year otherwise. Other beers I will still hold onto longer.

I’m just too cheap to open anything that cost me more than maybe twenty bucks. I buy them for @franktank18 because he has such a forceful personality and Christ knows what he does with them.

 

I’ve watched movies like Sideways and especially the recent The Menu with the mindset of each movie centering around beer nerds instead of wine and fine dining aficionados. The parallels and crossovers between both films and the craft beer scene are insane.

 

It has been a looong time since I have watched that movie but I still remember the great scene where the Paul Giamatti character freaked out about the possibility of Merlot being consumed:

Call me crazy, but on my last trip to HF on 12/14/22, I got 3 floras, 3 CD 35s, 2 Aarons, 1 port damon and a bunch of other stuff. I had the floras, Aarons, and two of the CD 35s. I also drank all the cans I bought. I am opening the damon and CD35 with a friend on the superbowl. My beer cellar looks like a grocery store before a hurricane. Good thing they make more beer!

Just curious whether anyone ordered 6 bottles of Norma for shipping yesterday. As a PA resident, they made it clear we were limited to 3 bottles of it. It looks like the takeaway/toast limit of 4 per person is still listed.

 

Could anyone hook me up with a growler of Rhetorica? Have plenty to offer.
