Second stop here since Sunday, trying a new to me beer that won 2022 GABF Bronze. Love brewers committing to traditional styles.

Chicago Brewing Company Wild West Tripel

Brewery Notes: $8, 13 oz draft pour into a tall tulip glass, 9.8% ABV. 2022 GAFB Bronze Medal Winner.

Appearance: Somewhat murky orange golden base, creamy rich bright white head recedes after a couple minutes leaving fine bubble lacing. 4.0

    Aroma:
Bubble gum banana yeast, smells sweet but manageable, above medium strength. 4.25

    Taste:
Consistent with the aroma, though bubble gum (Bubblicious) is front and center, containing the sugar you get in the first few chews. As this warms, the banana and clove takes over, lemon, light pepper and citrus also lurk. Full flavored, solid. 4.25

    Mouthfeel:
Sweet, carbonation negligible, drinks strong, at the abv. Lightly dry, lingers in the finish. 4.0

    Overall:
This is a solid Tripel, hits and exceeds the expected notes, powerful, well brewed. Glad I stopped in and selected this. Keep on exploring Chicago Brewing Company! 4.25

Felt in the mood for a Belgian dark ale, but alas, I have none. I did however dig out my last "A Slice of Hefen", which sort of scratches the itch with a similar yeast profile. Not looking forward to snow and bitter cold again the next few weeks, but hopefully it won't be too bad.

Dinner prep from earlier with a Sip of Sunshine. I haven't made fried chicken this good since I worked as an actual cook.

Hope everything went well in the you-know-where. If you're eating Thai chilies and hot sausage, I guess the answer is "yes." LOL. That food looks better than the frozen pizza I'm having tonight. Cheers...

Yes thank you - everything went well. A lot of undue stress worrying about it but in the "end" it was no big deal. The staff were great and made me feel like I was in good hands. Cheers!

    1) Sam Adams Cold Snap (5.3%):
A Belgian Witbier from Boston with flavors of white pepper, coriander, orange citrus and spice.
    versus
    2) Sam Adams Winter White (5.8%): A Belgian Witbier from Boston with flavors of Belgian spices, bread, wheat, and yeast. (Mismatched the two blind)

    Winner:
    1) Sam Adams Cold Snap:
Some good old holiday Sam Adams brews. Both were pretty decent and lots of flavor for Belgian wits.. Holiday White drinks more along a Belgian blonde ale. More bready, spiced, yeasty. Cold snap has more of the Belgian coriander and orange citrus flavors like a wit. A touch brighter and more floral. I think the description on these two seems backwards and Cold Snap seems more citrusy to me. Comes down to preference as Sam Adams did well on both of these and rarely disappoints on flavor.
