I am sure it is, not allowed to be officially polygamous (that’s to say having multiple wives here) but having one is more than enough, I assure you.

Continuing to drink down the stash of Athletic brews I picked up from their dry January sale. Today it's Cerveza Atletica. Had the day off and got started early enough that there will be time before dinner for something a bit more fun.

He had one in what is today Germany, one in Switzerland, and one in England. I would bet he was eager for a new American adventure- and two more wives legally (the first died in childbirth).

One of the saying is, the ideal life: no kids, a woman in every coast town. No marriage either. You see, something that happen to literally no man ever.

    Cheers!

Poured from a can picked up at the brewery.
The beer looks like motor oil when poured from the can. It is pitch black. There's a 2 finger brown head. The bubbles are very small looking. The retention is decent. No lacing on the glass. No light comes through when held up to the light.
The aroma is mostly rum barrel. I also get notes of chocolate, caramel, toffee, and coffee on the nose.
Flavor has a lot of rum in it from the barrel, but isn't a barrel bomb. I get lots of chocolate, caramel, toffee, coffee, and dark fruit in this beer.
Thick as heck. Very full body here. There's a creamy feeling. Slight burn that pokes in to say hi.
This is a great beer. Glad I bought it.

Found this one on the shelf with some age on it. Bottled in 2019. 75% fresh Imperial Porter, 12.5%-barrel aged Imperial Porter, and 12.5%-barrel aged Imperial Stout. Nice stuff.

Good afternoon, advocates! Currently watching some spring training baseball on ESPN while I partake in this black IPA collab from Societe x Moonlight. I can dig it! Cheers.

Enjoying a Good Word WCIPA made with Pilsner malt. Nice light refreshing brew, similar to a Cold IPA.

Sticking with the legacy breweries, but this time, a new-to-me beer: Sweet Repute, which had somehow escaped my notice until now.

And now onto that bit of fun. Long Trail Hibernator. As long as I was just sitting around, figured I'd finally write up a review. I always find this one a bit hard to describe--both quite sweet and rather bitter at different points.

Format and age: 12oz bottle purchased from a convenience store in VT in Dec 2022, bottled Nov 28, 2022.

Cold chain: very good. Stored cold at the store, transported cold, kept in fridge at home.

Impressions: pours deep amber with a short-lived off-white head. Aromas of toffee apple, honey, and a floral hoppiness (smells like a meadow idyll). The taste follows this sweetness, but also brings some molasses-like bitterness on the finish. The aftertaste can become almost medicinal. Medium bodied.

Overall: a good Scottish Ale from an American brewer, but it can become both overly medicinal and somewhat cloying by the end. Still worthwhile seeking out fresh, as there are few fresh options in the style these days (at least around here).

I may not have matching glassware, but at least I have matching footwear. This is delicious by the way, both juicy and intensely bitter.
