Dark Lord Day (2023)

Oh no, please never change the DL recipe. There are a ton of classic RIS (Darkness being one of the very best of course). We don't need another one. There is only one Dark Lord, and nothing else tastes like it. I personally love DL, it's still probably my favorite overall beer.

 

As someone who used to love DL, stopped drinking it years ago and hasn't had a recent vintage, my main issue with DL is that it's so damn sweet that the size of the bottles is the biggest issue for me nowadays. I have basically no one to share with, I drink in my house, and I tend to not like to spread a beer out over multiple days, so that's a LOT of diabeetus for me for one night. Not complaining about the change to 3 variants and 1 OG (that's awesome, honestly), but I'd be even more excited if they also put the non-BA version in 12 oz cans.

 

I have the same problem. I have used a Rabbit wine preserver to spread it out over 2 days if I need to. It stops oxidation but you lose a lot of carbonation. I would love if DL was in 12oz format, or even 500mL. Give us a 6-pack with 4 regulars and 2 variants!

 

Looks like a new perk for the Deluxe tent has been added: Bottle thieves are limited to steal only two bottles from any ticket holder in the exclusive lot.

 

Used to use a Rabbit. Then some wonderful person on here recommended the Hermetus from Westmark. Life changing for someone with too many large format beers and not enough time to hang out with my friends. It holds carb very well, is a great bottle opener, and is very portable. Just search it online and pick your vendor. Now I can easily spread a 500ml to 22oz BA beer over a night or 2. It's nice to just pour 8-11 oz on a work night and finish it the next, or even 2 days later. Only issue is that it doesn't always fit a 750ml. Does some, not others.

 

Binny's sells them as well (https://www.binnys.com/extras/extras-accessories/monopol-hermetus-in-opener-and-resealer-935703) although it doesn't appear too many have it in stock right now (assuming online inventory is correct). This is where I had picked one up on a prior occasion and the price seems cheaper than what Amazon currently lists it as well.

New variant announced today: Barrel Barrel Aged Dark Lord- Dark Lord aged in large barrels that had previously contained smaller barrels.

 

Yeah, I actually just grabbed one of these recently and have been itching for a reason to use it.

 

But were the smaller barrels barrel-aged?

Cannibal Corpse, Special Guest TBA, Pelican (yaas!), Enforced is the lineup this year. I’m happy.

Yeah, Cannibal Corpse and Pelican is a bad ass line up. Betting the special guest is someone solid too. Wonder if High on Fire is out as the resident band there for a few years.
