Wednesday with Hill Farmstead's Marie. A truly wonderful beer that has well earned its place with the best of its imported German counterparts.



Getting ready to ride out an early season severe weather day tomorrow that I won't be able to chase. DFW to points east is too hard to navigate between the traffic and the trees, especially with storm motions as fast as tomorrow (40-50 knots). Reflecting back that this will be my 15th season chasing.

 

Oh hey there BAs! Thanks @Shanex for 3784. Yucky February is behind us and so is the wind. Depleting the stube fridge of the final Half Acre Magic Power IPA. 'Tis lovely. and I'm really cleanin' house gettin ready for some new brews. Ye Oulde Stube is gettin low. Lowest its been in a while. Gotta notion to try a run with TIPAs and session ales/light or low-cal beers. Nothing in the middle this time. Just high & low. Lord knows Blackstack makes enuf TIPAs...holy crap. My timing for a haul is good 'cause I do want some bocks. I might be down in Sioux Falls this wknd for a family funeral but I dunno yet. If so, I'll bring back beer booty. Cheers!!

Another 68 degree hike in this afternoon - pedometer says I did 6.44 miles today on this beautiful March day! Awesome!

 

I couldn't help it, my car veered to Pantown Brewing after work, and before I knew it, this was poured.

Pitch black pouring from the tap. There's very little head. What's there is off white.
The aroma is a pleasing mix of caramel and coffee. Faint hints of lactose also is there.
The flavor is mostly caramel and coffee. These flavors are joined but some chocolate and also a good shot of creamy lactose.
Very smooth and creamy body. Velvety feeling, and full.
A very delicious beer.

Two long time Chicago stalwarts are leaving the world of distribution, Half Acre’s Fader and this seasonal, my favorite I loved picking up. Thankfully, this should still be on tap, but no more cans.

This and Sierra’s version are excellent hoppy waters! Actually saw a variety pack of the Lags, I may pick up. Perfect for a day where I crave hops but don’t want, (read: NEED) the alcohol.
