Confirmed just neckbeard buying cases and reselling them, from their About Us page:

"Armed with our killer box, we spoke with hundreds of our friends and fellow beer drinkers to acquire a list of the most sought-after craft beers in New England and the best up-and-coming craft food suppliers in our region. We, along with a handful of friends, make regular trips to source and procure our product every week to ensure we always have a stocked inventory of the best products in New England. You could say we’re professional beer buyers."

Also, $30 for 2 double IPA cans and an ugly pint glass.

Interestingly, you don’t seem to even be able to choose which cans you’re buying (beyond the choices of “IPA, lighter, darker”). Weird. But I guess that’s their way of getting around selling old IPAs.

Those knockoff NFL logo glasses are insanely ugly. I can’t imagine disliking my sister enough to get her the “SIS” NFL logo pint glass.

What are the chances, on a scale of 98% to 100%, that this is just operated by the same guys who make the same posts in the same Facebook pages every single day about their daily mule trip to the “House of Trees?”

Nothing like trying to make a legitimate business by illegally selling alcohol. Wonder how long until this comes grinding to a halt...

You need a permit in CT to ship to consumers. Cost is $1,350. I imagine many other states have that same regulation. These guys actually filed for, paid for, and got a permit? I would guess...no.

To me, those fucking glasses are the epitome of what I can’t stand about craft beer or hype. It’s just unnecessary. Those glasses are fucking horrible. It’s a pint glass a bar will gladly give you. And selling cans at a ridiculous price. Stick to your job in finance. The craft beer thing you just found 3 years ago because your pal had untapped doesn't need this from your garage.

    You know I’m right :sunglasses:

This is where I miss when everyone just traded.

Why trade when you can sell for profit?

No one is original. Stealing a Simpsons image to sell on glassware. The Answer in VA would do it all the time with their limited glassware with a variety of stolen images-video games, etc.

I think ethically I’m not the type to sell someone else’s product. Especially something that’s just popular at the moment and will eventually shift. If I wrote the album or created the recipe then by all means. Similarly if I’m at hill farmstead and there’s a release I don’t want and someone offers to pay me over for my allowed bottles. I usually just laugh and say sure I’ll buy them and venmo me cost or a few pours. Amazing some people will beg someone and offer like $50 on top. Happened to my ladies mom when she was visiting HF. She also laughed and just got them and was glad it made their day.

Also, by definition trading isn’t for profit. If you’re doing it for profit maybe just get a higher paying real job?

    I couldn’t imagine selling someone a beer in 2004.

That's actually surprisingly affordable. I would guess... yes! Can't imagine they would write a small dissertation about the regulatory waters, and then... not do any of that.

$50k startup cost is a cheap date, especially with the prices they're charging for 2 cans of beer.

Seems like they've got quite the operation and it's a good business model. Obviously not to people like us, but it makes sense as a gift for somebody who's into beer from somebody who's not. I would bet they're killing it, much to our collective chagrin.

I saw the add on IG and was wondering the same thing. Can’t imagine TH is ok with this. They don’t do any distro, collabs, beer festivals, or local delivery. No way these jamokes are somehow approved by TH.

I checked the state's license database and they're not in there. System could be wonky, but I checked other companies that should have licenses and they all show up. So who knows, maybe they are legal or maybe not.

They may have filed for that specific permit, but reselling a breweries beer without permission is still a no no

I'm genuinely asking because I have zero experience with this area of the law: is it a no-no? Obviously I know many here (and likely Tree House) would find it distasteful, but I'm curious about the actual legality (if they do have the "shipping alcohol across state lines" part figured out).
