I bought a 6’er of ZD a few weeks prior in anticipation of the ZD ice release and I just can’t bring myself to buy ZD ice. Why do I need 8.5% beer when ZD went down like effervescent perfect citrus candy? If I’m going higher in abv it’s because the lower abv option is lacking (looking at HB’s 8-8.5% hazies as the majority of their sub 6%s versions just lack something.)

I’ll try a pour if ZD ice at DLD just to keep it festive.

I find ZD to be subtler and maltier. Also, being 12oz cans it's not going to put you over the top. And it's definitely a more quaffable beer than PF.

I guess I'm the only one in this thread not wowed by Zombie Ice so far, which makes me hope my palate was off the night I tried it. To me it sort of just bloated the things I like about ZD and didn't necessarily give me a reason to pick it vs. ZD.

Has anyone else experienced canned ZD tasting malt-forward, and draft ZD being well balanced and like a completely different beer? I consistently experience this with ZD which is why ZD Ice impressed me as much as it did.

I echo this, but I’ve always chalked it up to older canning dates. My assumption is that most places still go through kegs pretty quickly and thus they tend to be fresh. I really only buy cans if they’re a few weeks old or less.

I was at my neighborhood gas station (which has a surprisingly good beer selection for A grubby little store) saw Gumball
head and nearly crapped my pants out of excitement. We only get a couple beers from three Floyd’s where I live, but it’s a whole lot better than zero! All hail zombie dust

You're not alone. I found it bracingly bitter, harshly boozy & overall unpleasant.

Wow. Did we drink the same beer? Thought it was better in every way over traditional ZD and would describe with the exact opposite adjectives of your description.

Costco had FFF variety packs yesterday, except they were 24-packs of bottles with Speed Castle, Gumballhead, and Zombie Dust. Never seen them before. That's a very solid option for a BBQ.

Is Zombie Ice available at any of the north suburb Binny's? Highland Park, Skokie, Lincolwood, Glencoe or even Wheeling? I suppose I'll call but wanted to check here first if anyone has insight.

If you do not get any responses, FFF has a pretty decent beer finder in my experience. Worth a shot to help narrow down stores anyway (and calling to confirm as you noted). https://www.3floyds.com/distribution/

Binny's app shows it in stock but only in the Variety Pack in those stores. Mom & Pop stores around Libertyville and Mundelein have the 6 packs and stove pipe cans, so could be in your area.

Jinx Proof was my favorite American lager when they used to brew it semi regularly. I haven’t seen it in probably 5-6 years. Glad to see it back, hopefully not just in this particular pack.

    Thank you for this!
I've been hitting up all of the beer stores in Kalamazoo for a couple of weeks looking for Ice but no has it nor the variety pack. The site shows that the only place in town that has Ice is a tiny corner store that's 2 miles from my house so I just ran over there & sure enough they have the stovepipes so I'll finally get to try it

That's awesome. Glad to hear of the positive result. The reward for my good deed is, appropriately enough, some Zombie Ice later this evening. Well, I was going to have it anyway.

Variety Pack for $21.99 at my Binny's sold out last week, so they reloaded this week along with $14.99 6pks of Zombie Ice 12oz cans which proceeded to sell out.
Meijer had the variety packs with Ice for $19.99 - so now I'm hoping we can get those come May/June with fresh canning dates since they were all good!!

Was in the area so stopped at River Grove Binny's and found a bunch of Crushing Mass 4pks for $27.99 with Cafe Deth 4pks across the aisle for $32.99 - so got CM, along with a few other gems they still have in stock.
(and for some reason every Energy City beer I've ever heard of - 13 of them?!?)

I'm a fan of Zombie Ice - terrific beer.

Heard that the next variety pack will sub out Jink Proof for Prde & Joy.

Grabbed a variety pack, and more packs of Behemoth and Cocomungo. I was curious what the dates would be on the different beers in the variety pack.. looks like they were all canned the first week of Februrary on different days so hopefully they stay consistent
