    Good evening from the wonderful land of Oz on a coolish early autumn evening.

    Your correspondent is camped in front of the tv, watching the Aussies take on the Indians in the cricket over on the subcontinent and enjoying the tranquil peace of a house with both kids shut happily in their rooms, doors closed and earbuds plugged tightly in their ears, leaving their old man to sit on his arse in peace.

    Riding shotgun for my viewing activities is Barley Griffin, a beer from Bentspoke Brewery in Canberra, which is the capital of this bejewelled isle. "Barley Griffin" is a play on the name Walter Burley Griffin, the American architect who designed Canberra and also gave his name to the artificial lake that sits in the middle of Canberra and provides the shoreline to such places as the Australian National Gallery, National Museum, National Library and High Court. Well worth a visit if you're ever in Australia and don't have time to pop into my place for a beer...

    Good morning, Advocates !
    I drank this yesterday just after work before returning home for dinner, with two notes taken at the moment:
    Beerbliotek (SVE) - BOBEK CITRA - American Pale Ale (5.5%)

    I love the hoppy beers of this brewery and although it is not local, I always find them carbonated to perfection (even in the can, which is not a given) and which usually convey a commendable sense of freshness.
    Specifically, this APA is hopped with Slovenian Styrian Bobek hops and American Citra hops.
    On the nose fruity aromas of citrus fruits and ripe yellow pulp fruit.
    Fairly thick foam.
    Color tending towards orange.
    Light body in the mouth aided by a lively and pleasant carbonation.
    We find the taste of citrus fruits (blood orange, grapefruit, citron) and some notes of tropical fruit.
    The finish is pleasantly bitter, not excessive but clearly perceptible.
    A slight bitter note remains on the tongue, while citrus scents echo on the palate.
    Light and fast drink, but pleasant and not banal.

    If it’s a bottling date (L2266GG002) on label, I can’t figure it out. Poured at 57°. Glad to see it in the coolers, I’ll buy more while the beer is currently in the grocery stores.

    An old friend is in town for TBBW…we are trying to figure out where to get together. Until then, I have more chores to get done today. Cheers and have a thankful Thursday y’all!

    This is nice. Not as piney as I expressed, but a nice west coast ipa. I’m a little biased towards the east coast equivalents (I call them Vermont style IPAs if they aren’t hazy).

    Agreed. I still find anything they ask us to draw interesting but portraits of whether random people or celebrities are my preference. It’s the most difficult by far, along with certain artists capable to sketch animals or pets any of which are tricky too.
