Well hello there BAs. Thanks @AzfromOz for this post-Paddy's Day thread. I'm chompin' at the bit for a little bit of a warm up here. I need sunglasses to look at my own skin. Just did my lil' 5 mile run and am goin' directly to the stube for a Ben's Kenny Pepper Cream Ale. Cheers all!

[IMG] Lagunitas Willettized (13.1%): An Imperial American Stout aged in rye barrels with coffee, chocolate, and rich rye and malt flavors. Heavy and sweet.

Somehow managed to stash this one all winter. Had heard some good things. But didn't get around to trying it until today. Definitely some strong and sweet chocolate, vanilla, sweet maple strudel and caramel flavors. The coffee seems to take a back seat here as the rye and bourbon mix with the sweet malts for an ultimately sweet and heavy beer. Usually my qualms with Lagunitas is that their beers are too sweet, especially their IPAs. This one is definitely sweet and a sipper, but it works pretty well in the context. I don't get much coffee roast. Like it or hate it, this one is pretty much full-on Lagunitas malt sweetness. Good malt flavors though.

Today's plans changed quite a bit in the last hour, so now I'm just going to sit back and relax.

Next up at The Seed: Modern Rituals- Return, an American Imperial Stout. Now I know why other variants are so highly rated. This is a WOW Stout. Rich mocha, fresh coffee, vanilla beans, hazelnut, and lots of dark fruit notes. Superb! We’re headed to a favorite seafood place for dinner, then back home to watch Mizzou-Princeton (I predict a win for the Tigers). Cheers from Ayce!

Had to go into Wormtown for a haircut this morning so I stopped by Austin Liquors which usually has a decent selection of brews. I picked up this local from Redemption Rock brewing which bills itself as a West Coast IPA. It's pretty good but I haven't formulated an opinion yet. It definitely has a different flavor than what I was expecting. I just put dinner on the stove and have an hour to wait and enjoy a beer in the meantime - Hop Rocks.

For lunch I made a corned beef sandwich on rye with Heady Topper whole grain mustard, it was killer.

My last Fidens. It’s been a hell of a ride, and I will spend 20 bucks a can on this brewery again.

Gaismas Ragana, a "Bronze Age" Braggot from Latvian Brewery Labietis (8%).

This makes for a really nice and very interesting Braggot that has got an excellent balance of honey sweetness, berry tartness, citrus zest and hop bitterness to it, while some floral, herbal and spice accents really flesh this out, lending a lot of character to it.
