This is ok. A little sweet and a little too much coconut. Luckily it’s pretty thin, so the sweetness isn’t compounded by being heavy. Coffee may have done wonders for it

An AIR BNB on a farm near San Miguel, CA. One of the most captivating places i have ever stayed for sure. Turned out the man who owns it grows wheat and barley for local breweries and bakeries in the area which was a nice plus for me(beer drinker) and wife ( baker)

Great view. Even without the beer.

Pugachev Brewer's Select from 2017. Russian imperial stout aged in 4 different barrels - port, rye, wheat whiskey, and 25-year old bourbon. Comes in at 14.3% ABV. Amazing stuff.

The nose is full of black licorice, smoke, molasses, tar, roasted malts, rye spice, raisins, port, and a touch of old leather-bound books.

The taste is amazing. Black licorice dominates. Sticky toffee, tobacco, coffee grounds, roasted malts, tar, oak, rye, old port, vanilla, and an earthy note. So intense and nicely integrated.

Mouthfeel is pretty thick, and the aftertaste is all charred wood. Great beer!

Is that from me? Are you saying I should go for those Barrel Room Collection lotteries more often? Erie PA is a 2 hour each way drive. I have to really want two bottles.

Harvey's Brewery - Imperial Extra Double Stout (in collaboration with the original Estonian brewery).

No date, so not sure how old this bottle is, but just purchased recently. Aroma is pretty tart, vinous dark fruits on top of figs and dark chocolate. Similar flavors in the taste, also a good bit of smokey char and a little soy sauce. A bit acidic in the middle, long but dry finish. Thick sticky mouthfeel. Not sure how much I like the sour aspect, but this is a very intense and complex beer.

Harvey's website does describe this beer as "sweet and sour", but doesn't say anything about whether it's fermented with Brett or not, similar to the historical Courage Imperial Russian Stout. I was going to ask it anyone knew, but then I found some previous posts from @zid and @patto1ro that their understanding is that it's not Brett.

I assumed it had a secondary Brettanomyces fermentation. But it's actually Debaromyces which is hiding in their pitching yeast.

I don't believe I've seen one of these posted in this 2023 thread. Not sure if our area even gets these anymore. I performed a cellar review five months ago, and this has held up well, though I wouldn't intentionally age any stouts unless they were released hot or too heavy on adjuncts.

I hope I find these fresh in the future, excellent beer at a nice price point from a brewery I love to support.

The head size on longevity are much less than the previous review. It had to warm considerably before any coffee came through, in the aroma or flavor. Strong ash and charred malt, with no bourbon tonight. Flavor again follows the nose, quite bitter, none of the fruit, lots of ash, no sweetness (well, very little). Mouthfeel is a bit thinner than full and a bit slick, otherwise essentially the same as the 2012 review.

Oh, and the glass! It’s new, thin walled and formed like a solo cup. A surprise gift for helping a friend at her pizza parlor Monday night. Dublin Corners served the beer. They are a small farm brewery with some non-rated beers. That will be rectified soon, because the few I tried are worthy.
