Ya’ll people losing $20+ dollar crowlers in your fridge for years need to either start cleaning your fridges more often or stop buying crowlers you don’t intend to open the day you buy it.

I understand how it's supposed to work it's just not what I see in practice.
That 90% of crowlers not being filled correctly is IMHO, a couple of percentage points shy of where it more likely sits.

Yeah, I think you are right, probably closer to 98% are doing them like old school growlers. Didn't mean to disagree with what you said or your understanding of how they work. Just wanted to make sure it was clear to people that it is the process, not the equipment that is the bottleneck on shelf (or fridge) life on crowlers.

Well when I'm 72, that's too old for a crowler. Nah, just drink it up. But I am fond of pint cans!

This. I worked with someone who filled a crowler with a nitro stout. Couldn’t believe my eyes. Needless to say, that brewery folded.

I got home with a crowler once, and noted it was bubbling at the crimp. I had to drink it immediately, while it still had some carbonation left. I prefer 32oz grumblers so you can reseal it for a few minutes/hours.

Good point! Always ask for one, 'cause once it's sealed and you get home - how can you tell?

Same thing with getting draught at a bar, ask for a clean glass!

Still no report on the crowler? This is gonna be like the guy who went to the bottle share and got kidnapped by the Beer/Sex Cult, isn't it? All hype but disappointing in the end.

If they are filled by troon, they seem to say the IPAs are good for months on end

Troon has a small canning line for their crowlers, to the best of my knowledge. Fills them exactly the same way it would a 16oz can. Should be good for months (hops falling off with time is different than the beer oxidizing)

Well, not really. Hop aroma fade is caused by oxidative processes. Oxidation will also create other effects with additional time in the can/bottle.

    Cheers!
