I tried a can of Cali Cush and it was hilariously overcarbed. Like I poured it into the glass and it was all foam lol. Still tasted pretty good once it settled.

However, I didn't see a date on the can at all. Do they not date them?

Unrelated, but I just had a Schilling Pilsner for the first time. Not sure why I was sleeping on them! So good.

Everything I've had from Schilling has been first class.

In my experience Cushwa is inconsistent with dating. When I first started drinking their beers in 2020 the cans were all 16 ounce and had a date stamped on the edge of the label. Sometime after that they added a white window to the label for the date stamp, but I bought cans were they had left the window blank. A couple of weeks ago I bought some 12 ounce cans, Face Chop with no date to be found and Fog at Daybreak which had a code on the can (pictured below) which as far as I know may have to do with the can itself because it isn’t on the label.

Anyone know if the Alexandria area Total Wines got, or are getting, Dogfish Utopias BA 120 Minute? It's not showing up on their website, but they have a history of not listing limited-availability products.

I picked up a 4-pack at The Brew Shop in Arlington, leaving the last 4-pack there…

ps-TWs are notorious for not keeping listed inventory up to date, I have wasted many a trip to them…

Thanks for the info. I know it's hit a few of the mom and pop shops, but I'm stretched for time over the coming days and was hoping to keep it within a few minutes' drive.

The Bruery's DC spot is apparently shutting down at the end of the month.

I have only been there twice. I have gone to Other many more times, and have never stopped at The Bruery on those occasions.

Well one is a taproom and the other is/was a retail store. So there's that.

I meant there was little appeal to me personally, not to mention the quality…

But, Other Half does offer retail beers, and The Bruery did have a few taps in the back of the room… :grinning:

Update: per DC Beer, Bruery DC may be looking for a different location in Arlington or Alexandria with a tasting room.

    Hello Northern Virginia Advocates.

I'm going to be in DC/Arlington/Alexandria for a quick 24 hours at the end of the week. I won't have a car, so relying on public transit & Uber.

What are the best breweries in your area for West Coast IPAs & actual sours (no hazy IPAs & pastry-thicc sours please)???

    TIA!

Is your goal to buy beers to take home or a taproom to drink while in Northern VA? Since you have limited 24hrs. and need to Uber, that may help the guidance people give you.

You probably need to go to the west coast for the WCIPAs, as for sours, Right Proper got game.

Dominion Wine and Beer in Falls Church probably has the best tap list in Northern Virginia. Depends on the day, but there's usually a WC IPA and sour on, and they're usually very good.
