Hofbräu Original. Nothing fancy, but one of my favorite German classics.
    Cheers

    Happy Saturday to all Advocates,
including those who are now in Japan.
before going out and going for a walk on the seafront on a beautiful sunny day in Rome, I opened a can of my latest "beer haul" brought home directly from friends of the Birrificio Pontino, who, as usual, reserved me a definitely out of the market treatment... (practically a Lagunitas Ipa by Heineken at the supermarket costs more than the price they charged for their cans...).

Birrificio Pontino (Latina, ITA) - RUNNER ALE - American Pale Ale (4,8%)

On the can: "Lot: L030 - Best before: 01/2024".
Tropical aromas and ripe citrus fruits on the nose.
When poured, it releases little foam and a light consistency.
The appearance is, as usual, of a deep gold but far too veiled.
When tasted, the lightness of the body is striking, but also the low carbonation (a little too "flat"), which in any case does not affect the ease of drinking.
Fresh and fruity beer, with hints of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), yellow flesh (yellow peaches, apricot) and ripe orange.
On the finish, with a very light bitterness, there is also a hint of herbaceous and resinous, but decidedly discounted slowly by the fruitiness that echoes on the palate.
One cannot help but notice a background of cereals, which refers my taste to wheat which however is not indicated among the ingredients.
First beer from the Birrificio Pontino, I've been drinking it for years and I always find it on the same standards.
Honestly, a little anonymous for an artisanal APA, but my favourite "anonymous".
    Schematic summary:

    Positives

    - Extreme freshness thanks to a very light body.
    - Fruity drinkability with a slightly bitter finish, perfect for a summer drink.
    - Extremely convenient quality/price ratio.

    Less positive aspects
    - Appearance too hazy, too many suspended yeast residues.
    - Note of cereal which makes it too "soft" and which in my opinion should remain more hidden from the taste of the hops.
    - The slightly more marked bitter note would have given it a little more character (but on this aspect the guys from the Birrificio Pontino have compensated with other beers, especially the "Hop Machine" or the "Spaccapalato").

I saw you had the Uiltje session beer too recently. I had it a couple times, but in the shop I tend to pick the tall (and more abv) Uiltje cans. Like you mentioned that small can of session beer can be gone in no time  Makes a great summer or sunny spring time beer still.
    Cheers!

Got hammered overnight with 10-12 inches of heavy wet snow. Wrecked a few trees. Havin' a Pryes Pragmatic Pils clearing driveways and assessing tree damage. Takin' break. My arms are fried. Happy weekend!

Hey, you can interrupt this thread as much as you please especially when posting about good stuff coming back to the shelves and stores. Cheers.

I found it in a discount supermarket for a ridiculous price (0,69€ I believe) and there was no way I’d pass on it. Though it went down indeed very fast, will buy more and stronger ones when I get the chance.

Late welcome home to The Hague btw.
