Bohemian Pilsner is great, but Czech 10 is outstanding. A damn near perfect czech pale lager.

interesting. I picked up the Bohemian pils which I agree is great. I also got some Gravitace from Art History. I’ll have to try to get to brewery to get the Czech 10 to compare, since I think Gravitace is near perfect as well.

None of the specialty Czech beers locally, but I picked up some Vienna -- interested to compare to-style.

I was able to stop in today and HIGHLY recommend the Czech 10 - just a great overall beer at 3.8%. I could drink these all day. It would be nice if more breweries would brew this style as part of their core because it’s much more satisfying than a thin session ipa.

As to my post above, it compares better with AH Levitace (as opposed to Gravitace) but I would love to have all 3 regularly available.

This is a Bohemian Pilsner appreciation post. Man, this beer is excellent.

Okay... not to be the downer here, but I found some of the Czech Pils out of my area yesterday and had a first can this afternoon. Just a little turned off by the bitter -- near resin hop character in the beer.

Only one can, so not gonna make a snap judgment, but I checked some of my other Goldfinger reviews -- they really like their hops, don't they?

Albeit, they're the proper hops to-style -- no American hops "just 'cause." But maybe a bit heavy-handed?

FWIW -- I had the Art History Czech Pils yesterday and thought it was terrific.

I had these beers side by side a few weeks back. I didn’t find any significant difference related to hop intensity. I think I preferred the Goldfinger but was very pleased with both cans

edit: for what it’s worth, Goldfinger is using Czech saaz. Art history is using Michigan grown zuuper saazer

And yet, you couldn't find a difference.

To my palate the AH is more balanced between malt and hops -- less bitter and lighter in body.

The Goldfinger leaned heavily on bitter -- and I was surprised at its lack of more malt character being triple decocted, but I guess that's due to the IBU.

Again, one can of each at this point, focused reviews to come.

    I need to correct myself.
I apologize, but upon having a 16-oz. can of Goldfinger's Danube Swabian beer, took a closer look at the can. It was a bare aluminum can with a sticker label. The sticker wrapped above & below the ridges of the can. So Goldfinger did not expend for printed cans. Therefore, it is pragmatic this beer will not extend into distribution.
Again - it was quite good. But if you don't want to spend the money to get to the brewery (the Fairview Ave. station has more service on weekends than on weekdays ~ but it is a mere seven-tenths of a mile from the Highland Park Main St. BNSF Metra station.), feel its regular Vienna beer is better than this.

New GF Maibock in-house (canned 5-8-23). Unexpected purchase, but I splurged for a Friday.

7.0! Eeek. I was a little concerned at first whiff -- big DMS that I thought could be a bad sign, but the flavor is very good. A little less bready and sweet-ish than RT's Maibock, but right there to-style.

Maybe a Frühlingsfest with RT and GF? More's is no slouch, either. Just sayin'.
