Any first impressions on VSO GB? Should have my cans by next wknd, but curious on everyone’s initial thoughts.

Cheers and jealous, as always, of everyone that got to attend this weekend.

Big, boozy, NOT smoky...caramel, leather, oak & maple flavors.

    I'm a fan.

You had me at “big, boozy”.

I’ll report back after I crack one next week, but that’s exactly what I like to hear.

I still get some smoke (not quite as much as regular BA, but it’s there for me. I must be sensitive to it). But definitely more booze and caramel notes to it.

PSA - Taproom is closed today for a private event. That all checks out since I'm in town and was going to stop and pick up my VSO GDB and get a quick pour or two of the leftovers.

Of course, Rev being awesome, offered to meet me during what I'm sure is a busy day for them, but the window they had do it in just wasn't gonna work out this afternoon.

    TL;DR - don't go to Kedzie today.

Very kind of you sir. I'm in all weekend and should be able to get there at some point. But if not and am in a pinch, may reach out!

Having a can of VSO Gravedigger right now and after only a few sips, I like it way more than I expected. Bravo Revolution! (it's to be noted that this deserves a golfers clap)

Of course the one day I'm in town on Wed 4/26 that I could get to the Taproom for VSO Gravedigger/Gravedigger Piggy/DB Petit VSOJ/Sanctuary #31 on tap and they are closed for a private event.

Made it in just before close tonight to grab my cans and get a quick pour of Gravedigger Piggy, which was the only one left on draft besides VSO GDB. Had some band-aid vibes going on that I often get from scotch (not a big scotch fan and I know it didn't touch scotch barrels, but there you have it). Had more hopes for that one as I typically love rye BA beers. Currently sipping a can of VSO GDB right now though. As I anticipated, this beer is a stunner and is definitely the best BB aged scotch ale I've ever had.

They're all gone but Piggy and VSO GDB anyways. So here's what you'll do instead and be just as fulfilled. Go to the brewpub, get a VSO GDB pour and a pretzel, and enjoy the hell out of them. Then grab some VSO GDB and Logan Export cans to go. A smart man might grab some SJ and Ryeway cans too while you're at it. Enjoy the moment. Tip the shit out of your server. And move on with your day. Hopefully you walk out of the brewpub with the Chicago spring sunshine hitting your face. You won't be mad. Promise.

I did not enjoy Gravedigger Piggy, or Primal Coconut Deth for that matter. Pretty low on the list of Deep Wood Variants.

I did enjoy both of the Amburana variants.

    Nobody bats 1.000, or course!

Of all the pours happening release day, I thought that VSO Gravedigger was the best of all of them. An added bonus is that Revolution sent me home with cans of VSO Gravedigger!
