Work is taking me to the Twin Cities for the first time since 2019. Had a blast experiencing what I felt to be an criminally underrated beer and food scene!
But a lot has happened in these 4 years. So what has changed? New breweries and taprooms? Positive changes to existing beer locales? Hot styles to try? Best places with patios? What happened to the Gnome?!?
    Thanks and cheers!

The Happy Gnome is now just The Gnome - they have a decent beer list, but I think the food took a big step back with the new version of the restaurant, and they don't have near the same spirits list as they had before. Republic was one of the other better beer bars around, and they are also closed. It's a shame. Damn Covid.

As for other places around town, I'm a fan of Utepils and Fair State for breweries, among others. There are so many restaurants around town that it's tough pick out a few. We just tried Union Hmong Kitchen for the first time the other day, and it was great, and it's also right by Modist, which sometimes has some legit beers. I'm also a huge fan of Young Joni, but trying to get there is a chore because their reservations fill up months in advance (on the weekends, at least), but they do take some walk-ins.

*Edit: Oh, and Bad Weather brewing out in St. Paul. I haven't been there yet, but I've had a few of their beers in cans, and they've all been good to great. Small sample size, but I assume the rest of their beers are probably good as well.

Another vote here for Fair State and Utepils (great outdoor beer garden). Chimborazo is a few blocks north of Fair State on Central Ave, great little Ecuadorian place. Kramarczuk's and Emily's Lebanese Deli are also in the general area and are great food options. Venn and Arbeiter are located along the Hiawatha corridor and are quite underrated breweries in my opinion. Blackstack and Barrel Theory in St Paul to scratch the hazy IPA itch. Bang is a tiny little brewery not far from Blackstack and Surly that puts out some unique and delicious brews.
    Hope you enjoy your visit!

if you go to Bang: Then Urban Growler is next door there Maibock is good, there other beers are only so so
Dual Citizen is worth stopping at if your in the area, there Barleywine is good.

As mentioned above you could do the Town Hall, Arbeiter, Northbound, Venn run. Very near to Arbeiter you can see the historical landmark burnt out/looted police station.

I don't remember all the breweries you stopped at the last time you were here.
How many days you going to be here?

So happy that Utepils and Fair State is getting the love around here that I feel is richly deserved. Love the places and the beer. If you go to Utepils, La Dona Cerveceria is worth a stop. Some good beer, some interesting beer cocktails, and definitely an interesting space. A brewery previously mentioned that I believe is one of the most underrated is Venn.

Taking notes. Moving to the Twin Cities this summer, so I'll be trying out these places and trying to find my go-to spots.

Purely for food purposes, Patisserie 46 is a mighty fine spot we found in 2017, and checked out again earlier this month. It remains an exceptional spot to grab coffee and authentic French pastries. https://patisserie46.com/patisserie-46/

Never been, so cannot speak to quality, but Tap Society is right across the street. https://www.tapsociety.com/

That’s the Kingsfield /Tangletown area of Minneapolis. Tap Society is good its a pour it yourself and order place its worth a visit . Lots of places to eat within blocks . Cafe Una , Revival ,Low Brow ,with Kyatchi,Pat’s Tap and Hola Arepa several blocks away, none are beer centric but great eating in close proximity.

Pig Ate My Pizza rebranded to Nouvelle Brewing. Food is great and I have yet to have a beer there I don’t like.

though last time I was there, they included a 18% gratuity charge and don’t ask for tips. Just something that is good to know ahead of time.

Town Hall always has a beer or on cask. That might actually be your only option for cask. Looks like it is only Masala Mama according to their website. A damn good option if you ask me.
