Imperial Stout Appreciation Thread (2023)

Very nice!

 

I think I passed on it thinking ‘Hawaiian’ meant it had pineapple in it. Whoops

 

I found this collaboration from Imprint/Dewey in my garage fridge: “Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Stout “. It’s actually quite good. Not as sickeningly sweet as it sounds. Quite complex and tasty. A very good post dinner sipper which I’m pairing with a AJ Fernandez Ruination 10th Anniversary torpedo!

Brewers Notes: Collaboration with Saint Errant: Blended Oatmeal Rye Imperial Stout with Vanilla Beans, Maple Syrup, Tugboat Coffee, Cacao Nibs, Caramel, Cinnamon, Marshmallow, Toasted Coconut, Graham Crackers, Peanuts, and Lactose aged in Blis Maple Bourbon and Weller Whiskey Barrels for 24 months; *this beer was made from barrels of Buckley, Junie and No Cake*

Bottle received in bif17 from @ovaltine

Poured into a Spiegelau stout glass, pours a thick, black viscous , syrupy liquid. Dense Brown foam immediately fades. Some white floaters on the top

Aroma is vanilla , graham cracker, cinnamon, coconut , maple

Taste is vanilla, cinnamon , coconut , maple, cocoa

Mouthfeel is very very sweet, boozy , mouth coating

Good beer, look is unappealing, aroma is a big mixed bag . Taste is rich and varied . Very sweet , boozy

 

Root Down Brewing (Phoenixville, PA) - Dippy Eggs with Scrapple. Whiskey barrel aged with Vanilla and Coffee

 

I met up with @Blogjackets for supper. I was stressed from the Green Bay Packers draft selections this weekend. @Blogjackets said to me, "If Brian Guuute-eee-kuuunst is stressing you out, drink Laggg-uuun-itttas." It made sense. Here I am. I feel much better.

 

I have no idea what to make of that phrase.

It doesn't sound like something I should drink

 

Visit me in July. We will spend our days at Central Waters Brewing. Our nights will be even better.

I guess since with coffee they called it a "Breakfast Stout" , they just named it after breakfast food. If you dont know what scrapple is, its offered as a breakfast meat option in this area, its a PA Dutch thing:

Starting to really dislike adjuncts! Not sure what’s wrong here, but it has to be the cacao. Very sweet

 

Did the put the pork stuff in the beer?

 

No. But Dogfish Head did brew a beer with scrapple a few years ago
