Hi guys, A buddy of mine is going to be in NY City over the next week and a half and is looking for some good beer bars/stores/ breweries to visit. He told me that he was going to be in Brooklyn and then around Times Square. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Mark
Don't bother with Brooklyn Beer & Soda in Williamsburg, its a rip off.(store) Brooklyn Brewery is a nice little visit, one would have to check the tour scheduling. The Beer Authority is very close to Times Square. I've never been there but I'm sure its a good bar http://www.beerauthoritynyc.com/

The best bottle stores in Manhattan are Good Beer (422 East 9th Street; https://www.facebook.com/goodbeernyc), Top Hops (94 Orchard Street, http://www.tophops.com/) and City Swiggers (320 East 86th Street, http://www.cityswiggers.com/). All have huge bottle selections, as well as a wide array of the latest and greatest on tap for on-premises or to-go consumption.
And I would add the Whole Foods Bowery to the list of stores. For bars near Times Square, Beer Authority is pretty good as is Pony Bar Hells Kitchen.
