in all seriousness, i’ve been drinking and reviewing stouts and not posting here so i don’t feel like i deserve the mention, but maybe this will be a wake up call and get my ass back in gear! cheers!!

 

In-n-Out for the win!

That particular stout is too sweet for me.

 

Splitting this with @superspak at Central Waters Brewing in Milwaukee, WI.

 

Just got back into Western NC after 400 miles plus road trip from West Virginia today. Ready for a little Imperial Stout action! Today's pick is a base beer franchise always enjoyed in my Arizona days. This is a little light on the barrel presence, but you can tell it is there with primarily as an ingredient rather than stealing the show. BBBBS is a tasty cocoa nib and coffee driven stout that is well balanced with the barrel and adequate hopping and is a satisfying sipper given how thicc this is.

Not a damn thing wrong with CW's mouthfeel I agree. Wish they'd cut back on the adjunks though.

Despite the vanilla bean additions, this is one of those old school roasted to char big stouts I love so much. Definitely getting some Storm King vibes here. Dark, bitter chocolate and dark roasted coffee dominate the barrels and the beans throughout. The finish is a bitter symphony of ash, light earth and pine, plus hints of cherry and charred oak. I can't say I'm able to discern much if any vanilla. Thanks again Tom, just what I wanted tonight!

This was really good. I honestly didn’t think it was that thick, pretty perfect for me. The coconut version was also very good. Cheers!

 

Forest & Main (Ambler, PA) - Gmork. Bourbon Barrel aged verion.

 

Jester King 2023 Doom Forge imperial stout today at the brewery. Great to see Jester King is back to using proper glassware! I was hoping for a bit more funk but the beer has great flavor of dark coffee and dark chocolate.

Wife Went to a ballroom dance workshop in Austin. Got to go to Jester King after! A glorious day!

 

Glad you enjoyed Dan! My favorite from Mike Karnowski is a traditional Imperial Stout emulating a recipe from the mid-1800's for Russia. Straight up roast and hops, an RIS through and through. I really hope Mike reprises that recipe!

I did pop into Stumptown and picked up a four-pack of Holy Citra! last weekend. We were staying about 10 miles south in the Land of Canaan. Since we were on the run most of the week i did not hang out at the taproom but it was pretty filled up Sunday afternoon.

Way less sweet and decadent than I thought it would be. Pleasantly surprised! Smog City: Infinite Wishes. BBA with vanilla, cinnamon and maple

 

Fair State/Bottle Logic Lobster Stuffed With Tacos BBA Imperial Pastry Stout, 14% ABV. Taste is strong chocolate and coconut, vanilla, roast malt and some bourbon, quite sweet, faintly bitter. Incredible flavor, no sign of lobster or tacos. Overall world-class, rated it 4.51.

 

trying to make cleaning out the garage enjoyable (or at least bearable). cheers!!
