Dark Lord Day (2023)

Seems like it will keep going, which I'm definitely looking forward to again, as I also really had a great time this year. Their new website has a section where it's promoting 2024 DLD and a place to sign up for news about it as soon as available.

 

When DLD is half the size of what it should have been, it’s never to early to start marketing the next one.

 

I hope it stay half the size it was. Being selfish here.

The Dark Lord really fucked up not making DLD look like NYC did today.

 

They can’t burn down the brewpub until they reopen it…

Decided to open and solo dome this bottle tonight. I ran out of regular beer and this along with the other 5 variants was all I had in the fridge so..... it had to happen.

My impression, cold out of the fridge was 'this tastes kind of weak'. I thought it was the adrenaline high of the DLD that made me really like it then. But as it warmed, it's exactly what I expect out of this beer: thick, bourbon soaked marshmallows. Sweet yes, but delicious. If anyone is opening this bottle, I would recommend not to drink it below 60F. Preferably closer to room temperature.

 

One of the best parts of no longer keeping a cellar is decisions like this.

ME: "I have no beer in my entire house besides this rare monster, and I had a bad day at work."

NO ONE: "..."

ME: "No other choice but to solo dome this on a weeknight."

 

Is it less random if it's a weekend night? I didn't get a chance to swing by the store today but still felt like having a beer. #solodomelife



I love this one, as i'm a huge berry stout fan when properly done. Backyard Rye is still my favorite barrel aged berry stout (and favorite Bourbon County variant ever... will never forget the first time I had it), but this one is closer to it than almost all others. It's jammy for sure. Sweet and berry fruity with bourbon notes. Warm, again, is awesome.

@Jinx989 any word on if the fried pickle truck will be back? I want revenge. Also, I did not get an email. Can't imagine why they wouldn't want me back. I'm a pretty good time when I day drink BA stouts.
