100% seemingly unqualified — yet works, surprisingly — especially in a pinch.

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread — it’s much appreciated.

Forgot some time ago to post about this one, but if bitter & bone dry work for you, then Carton’s Epitome Imperial Black Ale won’t let you down. 10.3%, & that rare IBU count: 100. A bold outlier, for sure.

Some good recommendations, although sadly too many of these are rarely produced or distributed. Have not seen Yeti in years, definitely was a fan few times I've had, and FIS was a regular in my glass every winter

I didn't even realize Yeti was no longer a thing. Yeti was like THE main thing they produced for a while there. Add it to the list of the extinct (sorta see what I did there?). Like you I still mourn FIS (although I have a few left in the cellar).

I feel like Serpents Stout leans way too hard into the dark fruit realm to be considered here

Probably been mentioned but Brooklyn Black chocolate stout is currently on shelves and checks those boxes.

I still have a few bottles of the last storm king release (non-flavored) and a 2017 Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. Saving for Christmas.

Storm king ages like a champ. Popped a 2011 a couple years ago that was great. Have a black chocolate stout vertical going back to 2008 that I have no idea what I’m going to do with at this point.

Found a 4-pack of Barrel Aged Narwhal for $19.99 at Total Wine. Had the first one and loved it so much I went back and was distraught to see that it was gone. Would highly recommend.

I don't have the most sophisticated pallet when it comes to describing beer (I'm intimidated by many of you dudes) but I'd say that this beer meets what the OP is asking for.

Fair point of contention. It's more on the AIS side of the line to be sure.

In terms of bitter, SN’s Hop Bullet imperial IPA really knocks it out of the park in a can, cold, excellent.

Perfect after a KBS original Imperial Stout, which is pretty wonderful, if only the IBU were higher.

Seconded! I grabbed some Old Rasputin off tap in some obscure place in the South Bay ... been looking for it ever since!

Do the Yeti variants even exist anymore? Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti was amazing, and I don’t think they make it anymore…:slight_frown:
