Poured at 54°. A gift from Sheboygan. Drinking fine for the age. Boozy bourbon and dark chocolate.

4:25am says the clock? You need to sleep man!

Happy Independence Day all, I was tempted to kick off the thread but this elegant frenchie had to leave this honor to an American.

    Be back later… cheers!

Was wondering who would start the thread. Thanks Doc! My knee is feeling good, but I think my back issues have flared up, as my arm is killing me. Can’t fall back asleep, so maybe this big ABV one will help. Happy July 4th, all!

Very nice way to kick off the day David @DoctorZombies ! I'm watching the WSOP stream from yesterday. Will check back in later this morning with one from Hop Butcher I shared in Sheboygan that I've been looking forward to, but enjoyed others over the past several weeks canned in late Winter / early Spring.

May as well make Mike and others happy with a Two for Tuesday feature to start the day.

In for a penny, in for a pound…VSO Dark Mode, an Imperial Milk Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels:

Canned 11/4/22. Poured at 50°. Courtesy of @ChicagoJ from our IP trade in Chicago back in May. Bourbon nose. Milk chocolate, bourbon and oak taste. Some vanilla as beer warms. Mouth warmth from 14.4% abv. Lightly sweet and oh, so good - thanks Jason!

At 6am it is 80° outside, 86% humidity, and the feels like is 86°…it going to be hot and muggy this holiday 4th of July.

So, good morning Advocates and enjoy your day off and holiday!

Drinking a beer from the Basque Country of France, Eguzki which is a blonde beer.

Pairing it with a “fougasse”, sort of a pie/pizza but this one from the supermarket doesn’t make it as much as the beer for me.

    Cheers!

I'm on "dinner break" watching the first of many 6 hour streams of the World Series of Poker. At the featured table are two of my favorite all time poker books, to the left a great non-fiction account of the Benny Binion murder trial covered while author James McManus also played at the World Series Main Event. To the right, the seminal treatment of poker strategy by one of the GOATs who sadly passed before the tournament, Doyle Brunson. Will be many early morning (late evening for me) beers including this one over the next few weeks, sleep is best in the daytime this time of year.

Full review linked here. NEIPAs aren't the first style I seek, but this one is one of the best I've had. Sweet overall, but nice hops presence holds the wonderful flavors together.

Happy 4th of July to one and all.

Doyle Brunson passed? Alive or dead; a legend.

I started a thread in the Beyond Beer forum for those of us pairing books and beers if anyone wants to contribute or check it out.

[IMG] The @DoctorZombies might need a nap if is going to see the fireworks. Cheers Dave, you are what being a BA is all about brother. This beer I picked up after my Avery being closed on Monday situation yesterday. The outside of this 6 pack was missing the date and Timmy rolled the dice. Canned on 2/8/2023. They got me, but this held up very well.

Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass. Pours a cloudy orange yellow with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves thing streaks of lace, with excellent retention. 4.25

Aroma is peach, mandarin, passionfruit, mango, and apricot maybe a little alcohol comes out in the nose. 4.25

Taste follows peach, mandarin, mango, passionfruit, a little dank herbal flavor, and apricot. Well balanced with just a little alcohol from the giant 10% ABV. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, a tad sticky not dry, enough carbonation but not as soft as the East. It has massive flavor but easy going down. 4.25

Overall I wish I got this 3 months ago, but I will say it held very well and I will have 0 issues working my way through this very reasonably priced Imperial IPA. 4.25

Happy Independence Day and thank you to all that serve, so we are all allowed to enjoy our freedom! Cheers all.

On the anniversary of of Declaration of Independence, I figured I’d go with an anniversary beer, even if the Port City beer is a bit younger than the nearly 250 years since our “little” experiment started.

Getting a little more bitter smoke in this one today. Happy 4th, Americans - as always, be careful!

    G'day all and Happy 4th!

And Happy Birthday to Shecky, on what would have been her 17th, hence the 2006 Alaskan Smoked Porter. Carbonation is weak but the malty and smokey notes are still going strong.

    Prost!

Poured me up a nice MGD. Sun is out, humidity is raging. Happy 4th of July, guessing King Charles won't be calling to say happy anniversary lol
