Oh man. This generous lemon wedge squeezed into Ursa Minor Snacktime Lager improves the taste IMHO. Lets the bread notes speak louder. Interesting. Cheers BAs!!

Another hot one today, storms are rolling in this afternoon to cool things down. Got a walk in early, now on the deck enjoying a Pilsner Urquell and watching the storm clouds move my way.

I mean, it's a N/A beer, so I'm not sure I'd be too worried or thirsty for it. Plenty of N/A options probably (?) where you are, but UA tends to make some of the stuff that I find the LEAST repulsive or questionable for N/A options. Cheers!

Allagash Hop Reach IPA. Brisket is coming along but really taking longer than I anticipated since it's only 4 lbs. Up to 153 degrees at the moment and I have to wrap it around 175-180 degrees so I figure at least a few more hours. Really happy with the Skoo smoker tube - still providing a nice amount of blue smoke and the temperature of the smoker has been rock solid at 250 degrees.

Went out and about adventuring, now back at my AirBnB for some beer and dinner. It's hot out there in Budapest today, so I thought I'd have something light: Székely Sör from the Hungarian part of Romania, your classic kinda-skunked green bottle lager.

As some of you may know, "Székely" is pronounced kinda like "see-kay", and is the origin of Louis C.K.'s real surname.

Afternoon BAs. I'm on a mini-staycation this week. Knocked out some yardwork before early afternoon showers set in. Sun peaking out and a steamy but pleasant 82°F Georgia July day.

Have not had a Hacker Pschorr Munich Gold in probably over two years. This was little disappointing from how I rememebr it. Has a strange off aroma and flavor that I almost never find in German imports. May have been a handling issue at some point in distribution. Anyway, happy Hump Day!

    This commercial cracked me up.

I'd love to argue with you, but I can't. Rothaus is probably next best IMHO but Ayinger killed it with theirs.

    1) Utepils Helles (5.1%): A German Helles lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale Munich malts, pale bread malts, light honeyflower. Balanced.
    versus
    2) Giesenbrau Bier Co Hildy’s Helles (5.2%): A German Helles lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale bread malts, bread yeast. Slightly dry.
    versus
    3) Bad Weather Munich Helles (5.5%): A German Helles Lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale bread malts, some honey. Smooth, leans sweet. (Mismatched #2 and #3 blind, correctly matched #1)

    Winner:
    1) Utepils Helles:
Minnesota German Helles Battle. Revisiting three great Helles lagers. Utepils is my go-to. Very balanced, with complex flavors. Giesenbrau makes good Germans beers too lately. Very similar to Utepils but slightly more yeast and carbonation. Bad Weather's is slightly heavier and sweeter, but still great flavors to back it up. Overall, Hildy Helles has just a little too much yeast, carbonation, and not quite as smooth as the other two. Bad Weather is excellent, but Utepils seems to have the most authentic, earthy Munich malt flavors. Among the top German Helles in The States I'd say.

This is the #1 ranked NA brew on BA. So I'm definitely gonna seek it out. Looks like IL gets distro. I'll have to make the short drive to the east side.

Awesome! That's about as good as it gets - if I remembered how to decifer those codes. Gotta love those German date codes.

Both of these are the best. I tend to lean toward Ayinger, but can't get Rothaus as fresh.

I used to could get Rothaus Pils locally. But had not seen it in my local bottle shop in months, so I asked the beer manager, and he said it very hard for him to get. More demand than supply, a good problem for them to have. But a bummer for me. Luckily, I can get Ayinger Pils pretty easily.
