A store near my work just posted they have just received erdinger oktoberfest and it's in 4 pack 16.9 oz cans. This is my first time seeing it in cans. I will be picking up a 4 pack this weekend.

I always prefer that size for Weizens. Otherwise, it looks sad in my big, proper sized, Weizen glass

Not surprised. My local store takes all beer (IPAs and Lagers alike) and marks the singles up to $6 (often 200%-300%+). You can guess not a good marketing strategy and they sit there. So it becomes one-year old beer marked up to that level. Didn't think they could beat Total Wine in upcharging old beer, but they did!

I agree 16.9 oz fills up my weihenstephaner glass perfect. I also always prefer cans over bottles if given the option.

I save my vacation (upstate NY) for the end of August and it’s always the first sighting of SA octoberfest and in the spirit of the moment I always end up getting a case over the course of the week

This just in: Capone's, an OG beer bar/bottle shop just posted their latest bottle shop offerings:

    12oz 6pk Cans
    Von Trapp
    Oktoberfest 2023

    12oz 4pk Bottles
    Ayinger
    Oktoberfest 2023

Saw an O-fest in a supermarket cooler yesterday, assumed it had to be from last year. Now thinking, maybe not?

This feels like a record to me, July 13.

That's about as fresh we'll likely see for an import. Nice score. I'm seeing reports of Weihenstephan's Festbier in the area. Will have to do some scouting.

You don't see Sam Adams Octoberfest until the end of August?

Where you been? My Binny's has had an exclusive island of "vintage" BCBS for at least a year -- and another, independent retailer nearby has had one for maybe 2 years.

The thrill appears to be gone.

So, for the past couple of weeks I've been sampling some pretty good beers; some new, others old favorites. But I have to say that none have struck me as "Damn, that's so good." as much as the 9 month-old Spaten Amber Märzen I've been grabbing once in a while.

It's always been my favorite beer, and maybe going without it for a year has made my heart grow fonder, but its toasty, melanoidin malt is really tasting good.

Speaking of BCBS, any sightings of BCBS 2023 labels? In the past we've seen these as early as May, bogus or real, and some rumors. Anything out there yet, even speculation?

    June.

Seriously, it's usually the second Okto I see after Leinenkugel around here in late July.
