As mentioned the pizza is excellent. Last time I was there they limited each order to two pies max so if you want more than that, send a couple people up and place multiple orders.

As you walk in there will be some folks checking IDs and you can buy draft tickets from them. That's the easiest way in my opinion. Just beyond the IDs they have a to-go counter with a limited selection of cans. Take a photo of the to-go list on your way in and then while you are enjoying your drafts and pizza, you can peruse the pickup offerings on the website. If the to-go counter has everything you want, you can just buy it on your way out. If not, you can place an order for pickup from your phone while eating and when you get to your car to leave, you can just pull up to the pickup area in the parking lot.

One tip, you can split a draft ticket into two pours if you want to try a few things. There are some caveats like no splitting sidepull options and no splitting of things that are offered less than 12oz or something to that affect but ask the server for specifics.

For whatever reason, at least on the Charlton page, its only written on the Classics Bar tab, but it 100% applies to the main bar, too. Or at least, it certainly used to be that way.

Also, usually the “good stuff” is in 12oz or less format, which you can’t split. If this weren’t the case, I think it would be much more common knowledge

I used to be a big scotch drinker, and definitely enjoyed Islay distilleries like Laphroaig and Lagavullin, so I think I know what to expect here judging by the outraged reviewers on untappd lol. I can tell they’ve never tasted Peat or the sometimes medicinal notes of these certain whiskies. I think I’ll like it, but I totally expect these things to be available at the retail store for the next several months

I thought above poster above had said under 12oz. Which sounds like it would include 12oz. Game changer for me if so

I also had no idea about splitting drafts. That’s good to know. I usually order the single IPAs in 16-18 oz format for on site. I like having a big ‘ol cup to sip on while making moves around Deerfield as my kids enjoy the landscape. So would they just fill up my cups half way if I split it. And with a potential bit likely slight overshoot I could get two 10oz-ers for the price of one 18oz ticket. I’m down for that. Once you get into the territory of splitting a 12oz into 6oz it does kinda of lose its appeal. Unless maybe If your losing your last ticket to try some stouts, which is common practice for me. 2 IPAs and then one of those special adjuncts draft-only stouts. Maybe I’ll throw in one of those fruited IPAs if I’m feeling sassy. But I also wouldn’t mind having a smaller sample of one of those.

100%. It doesn’t disappoint. I tend to over think it and do a lot of risk-benefit / cost analysis. Hard to beat getting Julius, green, alter ego, sap, etc at $15.20 for 4. Even some of the DIPAs like super typhoon coming in at under 20 is highway robbery as far as I’m concerned. Throwing in a few of the $20+ extra hopped DIPAs for good measure doesn’t hurt so much. Especially coming from NYC I still consider that a steal. The fact that i can get Julius as green for 15 bucks still blows my mind. I think I could almost save money driving to treehouse every 3 months vs going to shops in brooklyn.

As I said, I'm not 100% sure of the details except that you can't split sidepull options. There are some other restrictions on what they'll split but I usually want to try a couple of different pale ales or pilsners and am not drinking the stronger ABV things on-site that are offered at 12oz or less.

They usually use smaller cups if you split something and you have to get both at one time so might be an issue if you're walking around with kids and don't have a table. My experience has been that you might get an extra oz or two if you do split but that's not the draw, it's trying several things without having to drink 16-20oz of each.

Anything that you can get in a 16 oz (or higher) pour, you can split into 8 oz pours.

    14oz or less, no splitting.

Nitro and sidepulls are excepted, but in the winter, the classics bar guy poured me 8 oz of sidepull Nomad when I was splitting a ticket that had a high abv porter and asked him what else I should get.

This all Charlton experience, can't speak for the other locations.

If this is THAT kind of smoke I am so in. I have a truly unfortunate amount of open bottles of Scotch right now and most of them are peated.

In Deerfield, back in January, I had one server who would not, and another server on a different day who gave me a full pour and an empty glass and offered to turn his back while I did whatever it was I was going to do. Point being, yrmv.

Also worth noting, on weekdays you get real and appropriate glassware. On weekends you get plastic cups.

This sounds like the server thinks you want to split a single beer between 2 people, as opposed to a single person getting 2 half beers on one ticket. The way they sell drink tickets, this is a pretty significant difference, if that's the case. Just throwing that out there.

OH… reading comprehension! That thing again. Yes, that was what we attempted to do. Please disregard and carry on.

I told a server last summer in Deerfield that I heard I could get half pours, and he told me, unequivocally, “no - we don’t do that.” Does it depend on the whims of the servers? It was a quiet weekday afternoon with few patrons and no lines.

When in doubt, ask the source. So I did.

If I had to guess, I think it's an issue with phrasing. You can't buy a half pour, but you can split a ticket into 2 half pours.

Or just an employee who had no idea. Hard to tell

Are the 18oz pours in 18oz bechers? They always look like 16s to me
