Finally drinking this bottle that I brought back from Portland a few months ago. A lot of boozy oak, walnut, dark chocolate, light caramel, a touch of vanilla in the aroma. taste is similar, but not hot. no real sweetness, has a drier finish. medium to full bodied, could be a bit thicker for my preference.

There's old, and then there's ancient.

Started this one last night and will uncap soon: The Rusty Nail by Fremont. A mighty fine stout. Cheers.

Coffee Stout with macadamia nuts and vanilla. I got vanilla and cinnamon. Still quite good though.
    Cross posted on NBS.

Bourbon County Blanton's. Comes in at 15.4% ABV and is adorned with a bag and a trinket. The bummer is that the cork doesn't actually fit the bottle. Would have been smart!

The beer - this is definitely my favorite from the past couple of years. It's very clearly aged in Blanton's barrels. I had a sip from my SFTB Blanton's bottle and it's in this for sure. Chocolate, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruit, and vanilla. Tons of barrel.

This one, unfortunately suffered from the same issue that the 30th did in last years lineup. Just not different enough from the OG to warrant the high price tag. However, I'm not a bourbon expert, so maybe for others like yourself it was worth it. It was still a very good stout

This one, to me, really stood out from the rest. Quite different from the regular and the other releases. I felt like the 30th was quite similar to the regular BCBS. Perhaps it's the fact that I'm opening this bottle with some age on it.

I'd call it old guard for Pastry Stouts. It's not insanely thick and very well balanced

Not insanely thick, no, but thick enough for me to be relieved. It's not thin like Bourbon County. I almost can't drink Bourbon County anymore because of how thin it is.

Da Boss and i are making our way up to VT on Friday with a planned stop in Rehoboth Beach Wednesday and Thursday nights. Feels like 1/2 of the East Coast population is here, what a clusterchuck!
Anyway, being the old people we are, rather than going to a crowded hot ass beach (95 here today), we went up to the Dover area and hit a couple of colonial era museums and the Johnson Victrola Museum which was fascinating - we got an awesome 2-hour personal tour from one of the curators - fascinating history of Mr. Johnson and his rival Thomas Edison.
Of course, we had to make the obligatory stop in Milton on the way back and picked up some WUWWS and U120 Minute, which i may need to report out on the Barleywine thread. Wake Up is quite an outstanding beer, very coffee forward but a hell of a lot smoother than the Utopias WWS. If DFH could blend the two i see perhaps a better version of Avery Mephistopheles/Tweak.
    Cheers from Rehoboth Beach!
    Tom

I don't know the date on this, but it's damned good. One of the best stouts i ever had in my life was from The Dojo when it first opened ( i think it was Devils Teeth or someshit) and this reminds me of it [ not cuz its amazing but it has that OG MT flavor before they pawned off liquid candy as stouts]

I don't care to review beers here ,but the way this poured was insane and it's jet black like a mufuka
