Some of their non-Magick BA stouts can be hit or miss, but I have yet to find a Magick that wasn't very good... and some of those older ghostwhale ones were absolutely incredible. Also love that they've dropped precipitously in secondary value and have become more attainable in the past few years.

 

You know, I've still not had a Voodoo Magick. I should probably change that. Although it's entirely possible @Sabtos opened one up with me at DLD and I had already hit plaid speed by that time.

I did wax a One Way Ticket to Midnight with ya, and I cracked an aphotic in line as well, but no doubt I can definitely hook you up brother!

 

I’m new to LC is there much of a history of LC not getting collabs? I think last year I remember some grumblings about DB Generational not going to LC. I can’t remember with Forever Darkness. My sons birthday is Sunday so… I have to be a good Dad and come home Sat (I’ll be at 8/4 member party). I’m hoping LC gets a shot at the P3 collab of course but sounds like I shouldn’t hold my breathe.

 

If candy bars got you drunk, we could retire most of their barrel program.

When they do deign to make a non-sweetened barrel aged beer, it's usually pretty good, but extremely difficult to get, Ambassador or not.

Alright, I did some research and according to the 2022 thread LC got both DB Generational and Forever Darkness (375 ml). LC didn’t get Billionaires Hot Chocolate (750 ml). There was also conjecture that there was only a single barrel of DB Generational made. The assumption is that bottle format of 750 ml collab somehow meant LC didn’t get it and you’re saying this could be first 375 ml collab LC doesn’t get.

End of the day, if they are releasing it Sunday 8/6 I’m sure it’s already bottled. Maybe LC members attending 8/4 get to preview it? I’m getting WAY more SP bottles than I had without being LC so if this is the one I miss I’m OK with that. Beats the crap out of trying to be the fastest online clicker and making sure you didn’t accidentally click shipping on Shop Pay. Really pumped to open my DB Anabasis 10 yr which was LC only or try it soon.

 

the “only a single barrel” you’re referring to for DB Gen is the DB bourbon Gen

 

i’m thinking (hoping) there’s a quick LC sale before the IP release.

 

I wonder if there would be an LC Party bottle where only attendees get it.

BTW Locoz Tacoz around the corner from the cellar and down the street from the brewery is the real deal! Best food within walking distance from both. Blue duck close second.

LC didn't miss anything with BHC, that beer was pretty ho-hum in comparison to what they typically put out. Also, DB Anabasis 10 yr saw a limited public online package sale on May 9th so that one wasn't entirely LC only

 

man, i thought BHC was excellent. but i love chocolate so maybe that’s why… it was a lot of chocolate and barrel to me. interested in hearing: what didn’t you care for?

 

Refreshing to see someone else have this take. I agreed--it was a fine beer, but it didn't standout in any meaningful way. Some chocolate and some sweetness, but didn't live up to any kind of hype for me.

 

Great timing on this actually as I just had this beer for the first time a few days ago at The Veils Forever Summer Fest. Went straight to the SP table and this was the second pour I had that day, only following Maple In The Wood. It was sweeter than I would have liked and the adjuncts were a bit one note for me. It was very rich and sweet chocolate with only subtle vanilla throughout. The one saving grace for me was that the barrel wasn't completely drowned out by all the juncts. Not a bad beer by any stretch but a very forgettable beer all together.

 

To clarify: it was before last year that the LC doesn’t get collabs theory was largely supported, and that was before any 375s.

 

was it draft or a bottle pour because my experience has been that pretty much all draft pours at festivals are fucked.
